Call me old fashioned, but I don't understand the need to eat and drink at a football match.

Eat and drink before you go, then enjoy the game without risking your health with a dodgy burger or starting a fight by spilling your beer over the bloke next to you.

OK, maybe a bag of roasted peanuts in their shells from the vendor wandering through the terraces.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

Not old fashioned at all. Nor do I.

It’s the same mindset as people who are unable to visit a garden centre without having to stuff their faces in the cafe while they’re there.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

I've always found that a bit odd. Especially those that don't do anything gardeny while they're there.

Living down here does have some advantages. At least you can see them cry.

One sat afternoon on the way to the ground, coming out of Selhurst station, through the alley past the railway club, just past the overhead bridge, on one of the roads there was a guy on his front driveway - he had glad all over blasting out from his boom box (on repeat) & he had set up a makeshift burger / hot dog grill- I only saw him once so my guess is that either he didnt do any business or someone came along asking to see whatever vendor licence is required for that sort of outlet.

Where was he again?

I don't tend to eat in the grounds either, usually because it's crap.

However, if the club were able to set up area in the stadium/stands where you can get half decent food, a seat and beer from a glass (like in the red n blue bar) it would create extra revenue for the club.

I have a Dobbies Plus card and one of the benefits is two free cups of tea or coffee per month. They must owe me at least 250 by now

some are pigs.
some have maybe been in a rush, not eaten.
some have been on the bevvy & need to soak it up a bit.
when i used to go regular, if id been on the beer beforehand, id need to eat, before I got on the beer again after.
As another chap has said, given our yank connection, im suprised weve not upped our beverage & food game?

Ah but you need a game of 4 quarters to be able to properly appreciate the American Way..... so far the suggestion of having this has been turned down by FIFA et al.

I quite like the steak pies on offer. But I don't like queuing 20 minutes to get one as I did in the fan zone prior to the Brighton game.

You clearly haven’t been to a game for a long time. For starters no beers allowed in the seats. As for the peanuts in shells from a vendor? Maybe USA. But never here.
