Domininc Raab Not a stupid idea and to be honest nothing to do with the current staff shortage issue, this is a decades old problem. What you do with prisoners when they are released to prevent re-offending? Timpsons has a great record of employing them sadly many others don't. You have to draw the line with some offenders but many others could be rehabilitated through work.

This country needs a housing fetish.....but the nimbies don't want it in their backyard. But if they don't like it they should stop voting for immigration parties because expansion becomes inevitable.

However, I do recall some very recently on here say they want higher wages but complain when they could be coming that prices will rise. DanH definitely got twisted up on this yesterday and I’ve heard several on media programmes do it as well. Funny enough they start off with Brexit this and that and there’s no solution.

I don't think you can make the dole finite - as you allude to, the age-old problem with a welfare system is that it is always going to be exploitable to some extent, and you will always have people happy to exploit it. So you tighten all the loop holes you can, you incentivise people to work as much as you can, I just don't think it's sufficient to plug the level of gaps we're talking about. In terms of money lost the wealthy far out abuse the system than the poor......We have a thousand government quangos for example....tax avoidance and so on. But the system likes to focus upon the weaker prey.

Big business would love 15 pounds an hour....it would kill off a lot of their smaller competition. I'm smelling corporate Labour again.

Probably Tory in the Home Counties. Lib Dem in Cornwall and the safe haven of Truro. Would it match the voting percentages? Quite funny that quite a few Lib Dem’s opposed one of Ron Noades’ gold clubs being used for housing recently. Chaldon Road in caterham.
