What with the xenoglossophobia (fear of foreign languages) and the xenophobia. Multilingualism is something that is all too rare in Britain and it should be encouraged. It’s been shown that knowing more than one language is beneficial to all cognitive processes. In the part of the United Kingdom where I come from it is day to day rare to hear English spoken. Not interacting with British ‘telly’ might be a real positive. After all, I have heard that it is all run by left-wing or right-wing ideologues (they swop over on Wednesdays). Regarding bike servicing, there is a lot of demand as lots of people have taken up cycling during the pandemic. London’s biggest bike shop chain FW Evans was a good company with lots of skilled mechanics until it was acquired by Mike Ashley’s Sports Direct group and turned into something entirely useless.
