I've learnt stuff from this thread.

Many excellent contributions.

I've certainly learnt just how important networked, good and discerning scouts can be for a club.

I've had a little window into how the best academies operate....fascinating stuff.

My son has been taking courses on football scouting. It really is unbelievable the networking, number of scouts etc that are involved. A real eye opener

Thanks for the replies! Interesting stuff...

I didn't realize so many clubs had level 1 academies. So it sounds like we really needed to get to that level just to compete with everyone else.

Good to see Gareth officially opening the Academy today. Also pleasing to see so many familiar faces there including Roy, Ian Holloway and Mile.

Sure does look a fine set up with terrific facilities which will hopefully play a major role in developing our future footballing heroes.

So encouraging that Mr Parish has fulfilled this particular dream. Now looking forward to seeing the new stadium and for Gawd's sake don't let anyone change the name from Selhurst Park.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

Agreed, the front row was impressive, and good to see all the players there too.

Onwards and upwards!

Just seen the tour of the new academy. It looks fantastic. And a better facility than the first team have?

Just seen the drone footage. Holy moley! It looks absolutely first rate. It shows how far we've come in such a short time and Parish and the others have to be congratulated. To think that all of that cost only half of the money that we received for AWB. However, I'm guessing when they're playing in the indoor done that the ruling is below head height only or there could be some expensive damage done lol

"It's ok postman , he'll lick you to death" "That isn't really that comforting , I still end up dead !!"

Very impressive and inspirational. I’ve watched the drone footage 3 times.

Yes the new academy looks fantastic.I wonder if all the students are given a tour of The Arthur to prove how lucky they are unlike us poor fans and the conditions we have to put up with.I doubt it.

Really nice to see Roy in the front row for the unveiling having a natter with PV. I'm guessing Pardew being there might mean that SP doesn't rate him as one of the worst 5 ever :-)
