I had the vaccine in June and had serious side effects. I was bed ridden for 3 weeks. Oh well, it'll be worth it, I thought. Now, I'm in bed with Covid. Breathing difficulties, fever etc. I can't be the only one. When contact tracing were in touch, they were not surprised so obviously pretty standard.

Did you have a PCR test when you were ill in June? It does very much sound like you've been unlucky on all fronts. Get well soon.

It's quite a funny story actually (not for me at the time obviously). My vaccine side effects were serious after my first jab (Moderna). I had a dead arm, two dead arms, blood clots, bruising, swollen tongue, swollen neck, swollen joints, pains, fatigue etc, there were more. I still went for my second jab, however (why you ask?). I wanted proper immunisation.
Anyway, when I went for second jab, the Doctor? asks "have you ever had severe allergies?".
I said, "funny you should ask that, no, not until I had the first jab".
"But you consent." she says.
I say "I had a swollen tongue, couldn't talk"
"But you consent"
"I had two dead arms"
"But you consent"
"I had bruising"
"But you consent"
"I had a swollen neck"
"But you consent".
This went on much longer, what I was annoyed about was still just being desperate to jab me despite obvious bad reaction. A bit of sympathy and I wouldn't have cared.
No way would I say I consented until I listed every effect that I had. Perhaps some future comedy set.
I'm failing to see the humour at present.

I'm not saying to anyone, don't get jabbed, just want to tell a personal story, an average one that doesn't make the news. Thanks for your message. It's just one of those things.

From what's out there, this is a seriously rare occurrence. That said in your shoes, considering your personal reaction to it I'm not sure that I'd have had the second vaccination. I can see your logic though in wanting to get it out of the way.

You're between a rock and a hard place because clearly your natural reaction to covid is pretty serious too. 'Logically', and who is to say if this will pan out in your case, having a combination of covid 'and' the vaccine should offer greater and broader protection than either in isolation, so 'hopefully' once you're out of the woods with this, it'd be a good while before it troubles you again. Let's hope so anyway and get well soon. Best of health to you!

Thanks, funnily enough, had pretty much no adverse reaction to the second jab except for sore arm. I heard everyone else was the other way round i.e having adverse reaction to the second jab rather than the first.

I don't think it's a surprise Public Health England were woeful and the original Sage committee made too many mistakes. Plenty of blame to go around, government, experts, civil service NHS etc.

Asked who was accountable for mistakes made, Greg Clark, the chair of the science and technology committee, said that in any democracy, politicians were accountable

The UK was one of the first countries in the world to develop a test for Covid in January 2020, but despite this failed to translate that into an effective test-and-trace system during the first year of the pandemic.

The MPs also highlighted how ministers in England rejected scientific advice to have a two-week "circuit-breaker" in the autumn.

Where were our National leaders? Bickering and self serving

Handing out PPE contracts to their associates which never came to fruition.

They also said that Wales did and it made no difference.

Of course the government has to carry the blame however it is clear that there were many fingers in that pie and not just politicians. Public health England was shown up to be an expensive waste of money and not up to the job. I presume that a new body will be created.

As for the PPE scandal I hope there will be a separate investigation to see who got the contacts and why.

The PPE 'scandal' pales into insignificance compared to the £30+ billion that was wasted in a matter of weeks on the completely failed track & trace 'system'. Which pockets and accounts swallowed this gargantuan amount of money in a few weeks?

The narrative will still be that they "did all they could"

In any sort of functioning government, a report this damning would result in sackings - this will probably lead to an improvement in Tory polling.
