Luckily, the EU and rest of the world dealt with it excellently and are beyond reproach.
I would agree that the cost of PPE and the contact tracing needs to be properly investigated (expensive parliamentary investigation to take years). However, the overall response was no worse than other countries.
To be fair, Ireland has not handled it any differently. Probably worse, yet the difference is our press will not complain. They suck at the government teet for funding and are basically the government media.

It is the "world beating" nonsense that they put out for the past year that irks ASCP, and that mistake on week one, was only to go against the EU advice, it lasted a week before lessons were learned that if the EU 27 countrys experts have an opinion, don"t just go against it to show we are different, only to get pied a whole week later! As for the press, you know it2s only in the last couple of days the newspapers have turned against bungle in the uk, thats because he and his cabinet are so so bad, there is no hiding place, and they want to be seen as being on the side that always knew and said so, but trhats just the last few days!

Except nearly every other government in the world.

Seriously, try speaking to people in other countries about it. I haven't seen anyone happy with how it's been dealt with here. Plus, I've seen protests in Holland, France, Denmark and here, and obviously Australia now.

Of the countries you've listed, our death rates are in a league of their own, so forgive me if I don't view the existence of protests as proof of anything.

How many of those countries were as late as us to lockdown? Spunked billions on defective equipment and tech? Actively released +ive patients back into care homes? Failed to close borders or insist on testing on entry for an age?

There are so many obvious failures, and the numbers are there to show how much difference these made - we now have a report calling it one of the worst ever public health failures - at which point do we, as a population, just accept that it was a s***show?

I really don't get the apathy.

Just listened to this and it is an eye-opener.

All too often the problem is that people take a cynicism of mainstream media which is of course reasonable to a point, and replace it with something even more off the rails, typically one man bands by mugs (or grifters) for mugs, or organisations with as much if not more of an agenda then any they criticise, which they then lap up wholesale with no quarms. Unfortunately the bulk of what's on Bitchute is often not some kind of considered valid alternative. It's instead frequently a playground for people mentally off the deep end in one way or another. Case in point 'HappyPeasant' also wants to tell us the the vaccine 'causes a death spike', that there will be a 'wave' of deaths' due to it, that it's akin to worldwide governmental satanic worship and is the 'mark of the beast'.

I think having a thread about the CONservatives terrible handling of this crisis and its report deserves its own thread! Just because becky is a CON supporter, and always sticking up for them in a round about way, and has moved my thread into a general Corona thread, instead of the cock up thread I started about the enquiry, I am witholding posts for the next week in protest! This is in regard to free speech and not mods censorship, shutting down anti CONservative opinion!

Your thoughts on this topic have already been covered in the original Covid thread, and that is why I merged them.

Your absence for the next week will be much appreciated in moderation terms.

Wot - even the US of A?

To be honest, I half agree with you. The Tories haven't been great, but I will say there's a serious lack of information on plenty of other countries. I wouldn't be taking many of the stats as equivalent. I would generally say, I haven't seen many thinking their country dealt with it well. Whilst in other countries similar stories to stuff in the UK come out all of the time. You would genuinely think I was joking if I went into some of the rules I've seen personally.
OK I will put a couple from abroad:

Here in Ireland, and my personal favourite, was a 9 euro meal rule. In that, at the height of the pandemic, you could drink in the pub if you had a 9 euro meal. (My joke is that 9 euro obviously somehow makes you immune).

Another rule that springs to mind was in Denmark. Public transport was open but you had to have a seat and a mask, fair enough. That was changed to having to wear a mask if standing, not if sitting. So the virus differentiates between sitting and standing, clever stuff.

I think there was perhaps some eating rule in England wasn't there? Begone Covid, I've a full stomach.

As you can imagine - plenty of complaints. Mostly, silenced currently but I expect more will come out.

Absolutely you're right re information and reporting, but the differences are too large for that to be enough of an excuse for me.

I think the examples you give are also quite telling; they're silly/stupid ideas which clearly don't hold much logic, but also they're not even close to the scale of the care home decision or the PPE purchasing, for example.

No doubt panic decisions were made all around the globe, and some of them will look very silly in the cold light of day, but they're not even on the same scale in terms of deaths caused.

The narrative will still be that they "did all they could"

In any sort of functioning government, a report this damning would result in sackings - this will probably lead to an improvement in Tory polling.

I've seen several articles and local reporting about care home deaths in countries including Germany. There were also issues in every country over PPE.
The contracts in the UK are a scandal waiting to come out, however. It won't be hidden forever, or even very long once Covid has gone.
