I find the suggestion that Viera is getting more out of him fanciful. He's looked worse to me. Possibly just on the way down.

I think if he's used as a centre forward by someone we'll see a better player.

Once we can get Olise, Eze, Gallagher, Edouard, Zaha, and Gallagher on the same pitch, Wilf will be one of a hugely talented group, but not the star man anymore.

Wilf's attitude towards other team members during games is diabolical he waits for the ball to be played to his foot and if it is not he has the hump we need to get to a situation where the manager has the option of subbing him and showing he is not the only good player Palace have.

Yes, and Rak-Sakyi will brake through at sometime this season, Wilf will not be a guaranteed started then.

Newcastle will have to pay over the odds to sign any contracted players in the January window especially to clubs that might be in and around them in the relegation battle. At the moment it is hard to see them not been in the bottom 3 or 4 and Norwich are the only other team that are clearly weaker. If they were lose Saint Maximan ( he has had hamstring injuries in the winter in previous seasons ) then they are going to probably going down. I just don't see why Zaha would want to go unless it was a double your money kind of offer not just for him but to Palace as well.

I wanted to have a bet on Newcastle being relegated or finishing bottom but the odds are so poor its not worth it, the bookies don't seem to be to impressed with the take over, Wilf would be unwise to go there, Christ, 130k a week, how much money do yo need, Newcastle have as much chance of getting in the champions league in the next 5 years as i have of having a s**t in the queens handbag

According to BBC Gossip Newcastle are being linked with everyone and anyone.

It sounds to me like the club's PR department are bigging themselves up to make them more appealing to whoever they go after.

I'm not sure that Wilf would like it up there as it's too far from his gang of hangers on

I'd doubt it is the Newcastle PR team, but the fact that they can afford anyone in the world makes it easy to link to everyone.

But in reality, they wont be able to attract proper superstars. But they will be able to attract some decent talent.

Chelsea are another example similar to Man C. A lot of their early signings were good players either with experience or promise (Duff, Joe Cole, Wayne Bridge, Veron who flopped at Utd etc) but not mega stars.

Only time will tell, but there is a blueprint there to follow, and if the cash is flowing there is no reason they couldn't emulate the others.

Deluded Geordies on TalkSport were suggesting going and getting the likes of Mbappe in. Absolute nutters.

Some interesting points raised. Firstly yes a move to Newcastle might benefit both Wilf and Palace financially but is it in their best interest overall?

From Wilf's perspective Newcastle are more likely to be relegated than win a CL spot this season. A move to Arsenal might be better for him but they are still looking unlikely to secure a CL spot this season. Staying at Palace could be Wilf's best chance of European football (even a move to Chelsea wouldn't guarrantee thathe plays!) but it means signing a new contract which almost certainly means a wage cut - how much depends on Palace 2010.

From Palace's perspective yes Wilf is no longer the stand out star player but that's great news. He is still one of the first names on the teamsheet and fits in well - the rest of the team are now matching him in quality. We now have a much more balanced team which is going to improve over the next 2 seasons. So we need to hang on to Wilf as much as ever now - if the wage structure can cope with whatever he would settle for.

If Wilf hadn't been so public about his desire to leave then I think people would be less critical of him. He's still shown at times this season what he is capable of, but he has been inconsistent. I along with others thought he wasn't as quick as he used to be, but he has still been clocked as one of the fastest players in the PL this season [Link] plus he is incredibly strong and with the referees giving little away he seems increasingly more willing to focus on the game and not the niggly fouls.

If he didn't come with the antics and complaining he would probably already have got his "big move", but that's just who he is. I still love having him at Palace and his feisty competitive spirit is preferable to a Bentenke-esque apathy. If Olise lives up to the hype and Eze comes back strong then I'm sure Zaha will go up a gear as he won't want to play second (or even third) fiddle to the young pretenders.

If Newcastle were to come knocking (early enough in January in order that we can use some of it) I'd be tempted to say ok but the price is 100m and we want most of it guaranteed and not linked to performances etc.
They'll probably say no but who cares? its win/win whether he stays or goes at that price.
