According to Ian King’s comprehensive book “Crystal Palace: The Complete Record”, the score in the Terry Long testimonial was indeed 7-5 to the Internationals. Incidentally, the result of the George Petchey testimonial a year later against an International X1 was 6-3 to Palace.

That is really disappointing for a player who had the second highest number of appearances for the club.
One ex-player some will remember is Roy Barry, a pretty fiercesome competitor, who is still going strong at 79. When last seen in April he was delivering for a local fishmonger.

I remember reading that Peter Simpson’s family were disappointed as to the lack of acknowledgment from the club regarding his achievements. His scoring record was phenomenal

It certainly was. You wouldn’t fancy our chances of holding on to a player who scored 54 goals in a season nowadays.

How much would he be worth today? Really think club should commemorate him

If I remember correctly Terry Long was in the first team squad for Palace in 5 different divisions. Div 1, Div 2, Div 3, Div 4 and Div 3 South. He played on the pitch in all of them except Division 1 but I believe he was the one allowed substitute in one game but didn't actually get on the pitch.

I am determined to live until I am as old as I look.
