Guehi pulled down the Newcastle defender who was clearly in the perfect position to challenge Benny for the ball. No one can say whether Christian would’ve got his head to the ball cleanly, if the Newcastle player hadn’t been taken out.

Having just watched on TV I feel VAR got it right. Needless foul though, don’t know what he was thinking!

Really ? Not nearly enough to be certain,Roy's teams WON matches,do you remember the term WIN ?

We lost 2-0 in the corresponding fixture last season, so your point is?

It's getting a bit heated here! Let's not fall out, we're all frustrated.. and will soon have enough game to get in a rage about .

We were better off last season at this stage.

So pleased for Benteke with his goal, but how did he miss that chance when he was one on one
how do you complain about a referee's performance ,they are completely unaccountable ,there was clearly a push on Joel that led to the corner from which they scored

How was Wilson still on the pitch? He was on a yellow when he hauled Olise back to stop a break, cast iron yellow card. No doubt MOTD will cream themselves over his goal rather that concentrate on this. Ref should be made to account for a decision like this. Overall probably the most incompetent refereeing performance I have ever witnessed

Don't understand the criticism of Benteke. He had a good game. 1 goal, one hit the cross bar, one the upright, might have scored a stunner were it not for the foul by Guehi. Plus great link up play and defence work.....

True - and we had a number of big chances and near-misses. Tekkers hits the post early on and misses with a stupendous volley in the second half that would have one it for us. Edouard hit the bar and also should have scored when he was through on their keeper. On another day we would have nailed this. But it's hard to take after the Brighton and Arsenal matches.

Yes, and it sounded like Benteke played very well, which is a positive to take away from today. Had one goal and another disallowed, hit the woodwork twice, and did his bit defensively. He had at least one glorious chance to score though that he didn't take, and we're left thinking 'if only' once again. But as you say, on another day it would've been different, and hopefully it will be next time.

Or maybe get rid of Guehi, Benny would have scored two, winning us the game, and a goal of the month to boot!

You must be kidding. Guehi is the buy of the season imho. He's not the England U/21 captain for nothing. Sure he was guilty of the shirt tug but his performances this season have been excellent. If Tekkers had put that chance away (instead of wide !) when one on one with their keeper we wouldn't even be discussing this mute point. Mind you. Tekkers was unlucky to hit the woodwork twice too, well at least we have a threat in the air up front. I had hoped PV would bring on Wilf at HT, Olise shows promise but today wasn't his day unfortunately.
