Unlucky on the result lads.

The banner was fantastic though. Lets hope the rest of the PL keep it up.

Politics has no place in football, whether it is unfurling banners about human rights issues abroad or taking the knee.

The sentiment will have support from a lot of people, but you can't blame the fans or players of Newcastle.

One is left wondering how the rules on ownership have allowed this to happen. It's hard not to be cynical.

Outstanding effort from the HF today. Let's hope it inspires similar in every away ground throughout the season, as well as at home games.

The waddling penguin scum are going to have to get used to it.

Nothing racist there, I agree with AERO that the truth hurts. If every club they visit does this their 'sportswashing' might backfire and draw the attention of a global audience to the atrocities committed. How long before the Premier Arselicking League threatens sanctions against clubs where such banners are displayed?

Great work from the Ultras! Newcastle fans seem to be the only ones crying racism, which looking at the banner, is a ridiculous claim.
Looks like it has support from all across the football community as well, hopefully other clubs do similar

That is absolutely fantastic. Well done to them for doing that, and for anybody who thinks it's wrong they have as much right to unfurl that banner as the Saudis had to buy the club.

I think when people are being killed then I think fans and members of the public have the right to express freedom of speech. Players are employed to play football only. There is clearly something wrong if owners of a football club commit atrocities on people. This is quite different to George Floyd or abuse on Twitter. It should’ve happened when Qatar were awarded the World Cup, but buying a football club with deep rooted history deserves the spotlight.

It's hard to criticise the sentiment of the banner and accompanying message from Holmesdale Fanatics:

"The Saudi led takeover of Newcastle has rightly received widespread condemnation and anger. To give the thumbs up to this deal at a time when the Premier League is promoting the women's game and inclusive initiatives such as rainbow armbands, shows the total hypocrisy at play and demonstrates the league's soulless agenda where profits trump all."

We all want to win, but if it comes at any cost, not so much.. The idea that creating a 'dialogue' is going to change anything is obviously nonsense and just something people tell themselves when receiving morally tainted financial support.

Although it is true what the banner says one issue I have with it is tribalism. If Palace were taken over by a Saudi billionaire the majority of Palace fans would be like any other football fan accept it because it would ensure Palace become a European side within the next 3 to 5 years. Top 10 is a dream and that looks unlikely this season. It is hypocritical to have a banner when if the opposite happened most Palace fans like any other football fan base would welcome it cause most fans care more about success than their owners.

Plus if the PL did not accept it would have been hypocritical. You have Man City owned by a state effectively. Chelsea owned by a Russian owner. If you say no to Newcastle there is a double standards. There has also been allegations of corruption against the Chelsea owner, Man City and nearly every rich owner. Most rich owners have allegations of corruption against them many of them are true Newcastle are no different. Money has taken over football a long time ago. Most owners see clubs as businesses. Abramovich didn't take over Chelsea cause of the location of course it was due to profitability. Same with City, PSG and any other football club.

If Newcastle fans are so fine with the takeover, it's a shame they can't be equally so when we highlight who the buyers are.
