Absolutely it is. A virtue signaller is someone who says look I have found a problem what are you going to do about it.

I guess you have not seen my other posts on this subject across multiple threads.

These protestors are making the life of ordinary people miserable people who are not in a position to change things.

Coca Cola is the biggest plastic polluter on the planet recently their CEO said that their customers were fine with that.

Rather than Greta doing her teenage strop "you stole my childhood" why not get her supporters to go after Coke boycott their product protests, outside their factories, force them to make a change.

She wants to do something on climate change why not get her supporters to do "blackout Friday" where the kids don't use electricity or touch social media or play computer games or use tablets.

There are loads of practical things they go do rather than block an ambulance going to hospital or just simply moan not enough is being done.

I said recently they should dump a bucket load of raw sewage over the CEO of the water company dumping it in the sea.

These people haven't got a clue how to make a point and not alienate the public. Not against protesting against this type of lazy I posted a tweet, job done.

Given nobody can 'fix' climate change without a collective buy-in, your definition doesn't really make sense - any solution in this space is dependent on buy-in from others, yes.

Yeah, I've seen you make similar posts on racism threads - you broadly seem to think if people don't protest the way you would do it, they're a virtue signaller.

Greta is a household name through nothing more than protesting and discussing climate change, so I'd suggest she's got a pretty good idea of what she's doing - to accuse her of laziness is comical.

1600 people in a year, yes. For this one trip. How many others will they take?

So 0.00002% of the world population?

That definitely seems like it should be where we focus our attention.

Better that than poor people in London who can't afford a new car.

Of course climate change requires a global effort that requires pressure from below as politicians will never change anything unless they are forced to.

How many people have heard of Greta in China or India?

We are not going to agree on this and I was making a broader point about all the various climate change activists. They need to up their game.

They could just have more lockdowns: less emissions.

Quite.

When I see world leaders or incredibly wealthy people starting to cycle everywhere and so on, then I will follow their example.

Until then my vote goes to whoever promises me the cheapest fossil fuels.

I'm sure loads of fair measures like reducing the size of millionaires mansions or banning space tourism for billionaires are going to come out of this.
And I'm sure poor people the world over are poring over every minute of the conference, not worrying about their next meal, pay cheque or anything like that.

I've no idea what conversation you think we're having, but no one is dissecting the travel plans and carbon footprint of poor people in London. I don't think many of them have access to private planes.

My point is that it's worthless discussing individual contributions to climate change; scaled up, nothing any of us do individually register in any meaningful way - knowing that, why would anyone spend their time pointing out travel plans and how many cars someone owns, if not to distract from the actual conversation.

We can highlight hypocrisy all day long in all walks of life, but a) it's incredibly boring, we're all hypocrites to some extent and b) it does nothing towards actually solving the problem.

It's no coincidence the same crowds who spent decades denying climate change existed at all have now shifted onto moaning about travel plans and whatever else they can find to avoid the actual conversation.

It's almost unbelievable you think the onus is on the activists to 'up their game' rather than the bloody politicians.

So like when Greta Thunberg did a 35,000 nautical mile trip to a conference, only to be called a virtue-signaller regardless?

Why do people pretend their open to changing their mind, or 'if only X would do it' they would get involved - just own your selfishness

Of course the politicians need to up their game they are in charge. However we were talking about activists. I have made suggestions how they can push their agenda forward without alienating the public, other possibly better suggestions are available but glueing yourself to the M25 is not one of them.
