Haha, it's not like either parties candidates were a who's who of political talent, but in coalescing behind the safe, establishment choice they ended up going with someone who's barely with it. If dems aren't careful their voters will be zoning out as much as Joe is.

I would contend that the Republicans actually do have popular up and coming talent.

I would say the biggest contender to Trump is Florida governor Ron DeSantis who narrowly beat out Trump in a straw poll at the Western Conservative Summit in Denver in June.

Senator Ted Cruz of Texas impressed many Republicans during the Trump years and is currently well placed come 2024.

I won't bore and go through all the possibles but those two are prominent, highly intelligent and competent......not prone to falling asleep or being incoherent.....and when it comes to Harris there will be an obvious talent gap during the debates.....even the phones in the ears won't be able to hide that.

That said, as I previously stated, I'm not sure a Republican win in 2024 is the best outcome for the continuance of conservatism in America....real conservatism, not the version those on the left want.

I wouldn't be surprised if Youngkin was the nominee.

Drives the left nuts when non white people are Republican and successful, their race narrative can't deal with it.

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

Candace Owens would be my favourite non white pick....if she runs.

But yeah it would....like Biden said, you ain't black if you don't vote Democrat.

Their approved 'racism'.

Ted Cruz played second fiddle to Trump really, so I would think any presidential aspirations will rely on whether Trump decides to run again in 2024. I'm not sure he has enough likability or charisma to be able to win the presidency. Not as though it has to be a number one factor but where its lacking, it does seem to make a presidential run a perpetual uphill battle (aka Hillary!).

There are highly intelligent people in both parties (Buttigieg for the dems for instance, tho I doubt he could win either), but how they manage to interface with the public is no doubt key. I'd think that the likes of DeSantis is in with a shot depending on the national mood, and that someone like Nikki Haley is a possible too. Above all though, I see Trump running again and any attempt by his own party to stop him doing so causing more damage than it's worth.

I can't see him being quite as popular with his own party as his last run, so it will likely come down to how unpopular dems are by then. Really Biden is a massive dead weight already as having someone on autopilot for the next three years may well do more damage than a new face in 2023/4 can fix.

This is the only US Democrat that has ever impressed me...

Hated by many of the usual progressive types as well. Well worth tracking down some of her interviews.

Good call. I've seen several interviews with her and definitely have time for a number of her views. It's a shame that for both dems and republicans there is often an identikit approach. I get that there needs to be broad agreement to get things done (though what exactly gets done anyway?) but I do have time for those who think directly on certainly areas and are willing to pay the political price for doing so. It at least means that they're in it for the right reasons, which nowadays in politics is a rarity.

Good person.....though obviously far more left wing than I am.

She should run as an independent as she's an outcast in that party.

I'd agree with all of that.

Buttigieg impressed me during the debates but brains seems very much a secondary aspect to the Democrats, they need more talent.

The republicans have the brains coming up but yeah Cruz isn't that likeable....a bit of a Nixon figure. And I agree Trump's narcissism will probably cause significant problems.

I wish there was an age limit because it's a bit ridiculous.
