Breaking News "PM sells peerages" The PM being Lloyd George and the year 1922.

Governments have always done this which is disgusting but nothing new.

This is why the House of Lords should be abolished and also the honours system. They cannot be reformed as the establishment will just find away around the new rules so get rid.

And guess what, the Liberals never recovered from his leadership.

But yes, the HoL has to be reformed and is long overdue. I wonder why that is.

MPs should be paid more, but do we really want people in Parliament for money?

I see no problem with MPs taking well paid jobs after they leave Parliament, but clearly, there cannot be a conflict of interests whilst they are in the house.

I think we can all agree on that.

Or you could instead spend a second to realise the waltzing directly into a job from politics will have likely have fallen foul of such conflicts. A suitable gap between would make more sense.

MP's are hard working smart and honest we should let them get on with the job they are paid to do and more qualified than the rest of us.

I know this because I have been told this many times on this site by those that know.

Haha. Yes, I keep seeing that too. I'd love to have that level of faith, though life leads us to believe otherwise .

They certainly work hard at feathering their own nest mind you.. and any decent ones left get pecked at until they make a swift exit!

Rooting out corruption runs alongside that on a parallel track. Tackling the scourge of lobbyists, trades union sponsorship and business support, with strings, is a priority to ensure our representatives can do their jobs, freely and without looking over their shoulders.

And how are they doing?

They have been taking back handers for hundreds of years the honest ones don't seem to have enough of support to change the rules to stop this nonsense.

Our priority no doubt, but not theirs. And who has their ear? The common man, or corporations?

Not that there is any perfect voting system, but lets just say that we're not exactly spoiled for choice between Labour and the Tories, and so the rot remains.

You are confusing MPs with Ministers I believe.

All people are ultimately arguing over is what particular shade of s*** they most enjoy covering themselves with.

Yeh. Every organisation I have ever worked for has said it's fine to have a certain level of corruption. Didn't try to root out money laundering - well it's always going to happen isn't it. Bribery and corruption - makes the world go around. Modern Slavery - everyone's a wage slave anyway.

So let's just let sleeping dogs lie shall we.

Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer calls for Claudia Webbe to resign - [Link]

Too right. She sounds like a nutjob, not a suitable representative of the people.

Has to wait for the outcome of her appeal, you would think he would know that.

Sometimes I despair of Starmer.

Why is he focussed on this anyway.
