I believe you are all of those things, but do try to point out why.

The only point of agreement is that I am quite happy for others to read and think it through. Even though I doubt whether your colleagues in the sorry little extreme right cabal that you inhabit here will publicly acknowledge anything but contempt for me, and reverence for you, I am content that privately a few might get the points. That's enough.

I've explained all of those multiple times.

Arguing with the dishonest is pointless. I'm happy for your own posts to reveal the above for those interested enough to read them.

No it's not. It's essential. It's what I do here a lot, and will again now.

I think you routinely regard opinions that don't match your own as being dishonest, and that this is, of itself, dishonest.

Dishonesty needs to be called out and exposed, lest lies come to be regarded as truths.

Don't concern yourself, though. If you choose not to justify yourself, you won't be missed. Not by me, anyway.

The mention of Viktor Orban as a model for how we could solve our illegal immigration problems a little earlier prompted me to do some background reading on him. I confess that although I knew a little about him, I didn't know enough. What he has done in Hungary might appeal to some, but behind that he has feathered his own, and his key supporter's, nests and set up the country for bankruptcy when he is eventually kicked out. Hungary is already a mess and is certain to become a much bigger one. Orban doesn't care about his country. He only cares about power.

In my opinion, this ought to serve as a warning to us all not to become complacent. It's easy to assume it couldn't happen here, but it nearly did in the USA, with Trump. We need to be politically interested and active.

If you have some time, please read this:-https://www.newyorker.com/news/q-and-a/why-conservatives-around-the-world-have-embraced-hungarys-viktor-orban

The idea that this immoral man man be put in charge of dealing with anything for us makes me shudder. If that's a glimpse of our future, then we need to work to change direction asap.

If only it was that easy!

We are trying to stop the illegals. It's not a lack of desire, it's the scale and complexity of the task, together with our obligations under international conventions, that is the problem. Determined people will usually find a way around whatever barriers are erected, given enough time. This needs to be done at source and not at the destination. Which is why we require the willing help of our neighbours and of those countries which serve as the entry points. I know you don't like hearing it, but Brexit hasn't helped us at all.

Passing it back to local embassies is, regrettably, impractical. Visas used to be handled this way (Spiderman will be able to speak more authoritatively than me) but has now been placed in the hands of commercial agencies who ensure all the documentation is correct before the decisions are taken remotely. Staff numbers at embassies are no longer sufficient, or skilled enough, to deal with this.

Your last paragraph is correct and you also lose the local knowledge picked up by Visa Officers.
I am not sure Brexit is to blame, the French, have always been “reluctant “ to stop the migrants. Don’t forget that, despite Brexit, we are giving the French £millions per year to stop it.
I do not know how anyone can claim the illegal Albanians are genuine refugees.
As a little aside, when they arrive off the dinghies, they are all given new tracksuit type clothing, these are examples of what my wife has been told when handing these out: “ What no shoes?” “ I need money and a house not these” “ you expect me to wear this”. Genuine refugees or economic migrants taking the mick? You decide

1000 illegals arrived here yesterday. A new record. It's November.

I think it's time to dump these people back where they came from.

Most of them are chancers looking for a hand out.

Whilst I completely agree that Brexit isn't to blame for this situation, what I said, and believe, is that it hasn't helped. I realise we are paying the French to patrol their waters, but I cannot imagine they do so with too much enthusiasm.

How we filter out those who are genuine asylum seekers from the economic opportunists must be a nightmare of a task, and I don't envy your wife, or anyone else, having to do it. Facing those kinds of questions and being pretty sure that our compassion is being abused must be frustrating at best.

With the reported numbers hitting record levels, getting the new arrangements through Parliament and into law becomes urgent. Then we can use the method of arrival as a determinant in deciding whether to grant asylum, or order deportation.

Attacking the issue at source, rather than at destination, seems to me to be the only truly effective way of dealing with this properly. That requires international action to find and destroy the criminal gangs running the operations. What is happening behind the scenes isn't known to me, but I would be surprised if nothing was being done. Clearly, though, it hasn't yet bourne fruit.

Although it has nothing to do with this subject, and possibly deserves its own, I find it interesting that those I would have imagined cheering this government to the rafters as they "Got Brexit done" are now saying this kind of thing. For you are not the first.

I find it quite encouraging that Johnson and his crew are being exposed and hounded like this. They were always a bunch of political charlatans, both during and after Brexit, but it's good to see all sides in agreement.

With Corbyn also relegated to the pages of history, maybe our politics can reacquire some decency and common purpose again. When Johnson gets dumped of course. It's coming!

Lanzarote is a nice place to live, good weather, cheap cost of living, low crime rate, all immigrants sent back to morocco or to Madrid, to make their way up to the French border, good healthcare, a little rock in the middle of the Atlantic, which nobody cares about, subsidised by the EU, give it a go if you meet criteria. you wont regret it.

“That’s a joke son, I say, that’s a joke.” “Nice boy, but he’s sharp as a throw pillow.” “He’s so dumb he thinks a Mexican border pays rent” “ “Son… I say, son, some people are so narrow minded they can look through a keyhole with both eyes.”__ Forhorn Leghorn
