A spiv who got lucky with mobile phones.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

Largely down to his complaints and his shining a light on some practices that went on in football at that time change has come. For example, agents are now more regulated and have to be far more transparent (as do the clubs). This is largely (not all) down to Simon Jordan. But....he had a massive ego and he was desperate to look like the clever businessman you cant pull one over on. This was what really initiated the lies about buying the ground as well as other indescretions while chairman.
In the end it was the right time to go. He loved Palace and badly wanted success but in the end he ran out of both money and ideas. Having read his book I do sympathize with him in his claim that Parish tricked him out of the club. Its possible but thn again Parish was clever enough to share the financial burden with others and was fortunate enough to be able to learn from Jordan's mistakes.
We can debate all night about the circumstances of his departure but I think the majority of Palace fans if offered the current regime or Simon Jordan on his own the overwhelming majority would want to stick with what we have

They dealt with the administrator though, so not sure what the trick was. The administrator was one day away from running out of money and liquidating when Parish and the others came in.

I like him on Talksport but cant listen to it coz of the adverts. Respect him for saving the clube but he was naive and it showed. I completely understand his anger v CPFC10. They knew what they were doing, financially, and that is why he is bitter. He lost millions and they made millions.

He's bitter as well because some of the members of that group was the reason the creditors came in and was willing to let the club go under rather then do a deal.

CPFC2010 only made millions because of the run of good fortune that got us promoted and avoided relegation several times. There was nothing un the stars that said we would become a PL fixture at all. That promotion season was a miracle really and we were probably the weakest side ever to stay up - what Pulis achieved was miraculous too. Parish et al could have lost their millions too.

SP in a sense got lucky. In his early days he was naive as a chairman and made plenty of mistakes too.

No particular axe to grind against Jordan. But his gripe against CPFC2010 is laughable sour grapes. He put himself in that position - no on else did and no one should be blamed for failing to bale him out. He made it his mission to piss people off and go his own way - that was his real stupidity. Very questionable businessman too of course.

1. Explain please. I remember lenders Agilo being the reason, although Jordan was keeping up with repayments.

2. Agree, but perhaps his first and hugely successful business venture being in a continuous growing and rising market didn’t set him up from t the right mindset strategy wise. It did financially, if he didn’t buy a football club because Goldberg walked into being ripped off by Noades.

As I have already said Parish & Co had their funding secured against the club and all it's assets so they wouldn't have lost money

Jordan claims to have lost 30 odd million no? Would the ground have covered that? And that's assuming they would have called in the security. Agree that they had some coverage but the insstitution they took over was impoverished beyond belief when you consider the nature of the squad at the time a real money pit with relegation looking much more likely than a return up top. Factor in 10 years in the Champo and/or div 1 and decline attendances, need for investment everywhere and the initial outlay could have doubled or even trebled quite easily. High risk investment more or less anyway you look at it.

You might disagree there but the point about making millions still stands surely. The success of the club under Parish was hugely against the odds. A promotion at some stage may have seemed historically likely but scarcely immediately and established PL status was a very long shot. The luck is doubled given that the timing of it came just as money began to deluge into the PL.

Respect Jordan for what he put into the club. Doubt his business sense. Deeply dislike his sour attitude.

For me he is too opinionated but it’s great for talk radio. I agree with some things he says and struggle with others. You wouldn’t let him put a bet on for you as he predicts someone will turn left and they turn right but on Gerrard going to Villa I think he was spot on saying it’s a big risk. I did get the umph with Gabby A the ex Villa player who in my opinion flattered to deceive who called him a failed owner because of something he said about Villa. Hopefully that comes back to haunt him if Villa continue to struggle without Grealish.

The administrator described CPFC2010 as the only show in town, they made it clear the ground had to be part of the deal, a Bank of Scotland embarrassment clause seemingly became unworkable after a change of wording and the parent bank Lloyds sorted things at the 11th hour, if it wasn't for CPFC2010 we'd have been liquidated.

Exactly my understanding; so far as Parish is concerned he strikes as a far shrewder operator than Jordan ever was -his decision making is generally very sound and the results are there for all to see with potentially, a lot more to come from both the team and the stadium.
However, Parish also struck lucky in two people he inherited. On the playing side, Wilf has been the difference between getting up and staying up over a long period. No wonder he is on such a long and lucrative deal but Parish saw just how crucial to Palace he was and acted.
The other person that strikes me is Freedman. Parish clearly recognised his abilities although it was so unfortunate when he went to Bolton and nearly derailed things. Again however, Parish somehow managed to patch things up and Freedman, in my view, has been the other critical factor spanning most of the 11 years of 2010.

I said it was his claim not mine but its still highly possible that Parish and his co investors could have waited it out to get the best deal. They knew once Jordan was out the picture there was very little (if any) interest in buying the club from elsewhere. They also knew because of this it gave them leverage when dealing with Lloyds bank to buy the ground back for a fair price.
The fans campaigning outside their offices helped but lets be realistic, Lloyds can take a bit of bad press. Its money they care about and CPFC2010 were the only realistic buyers. Selhurst was never going to be sold to developers. Too many obstacles to building houses there and Lloyds didn't want to be stuck with a white elephant.
