Without stating the obvious, that performance was poor, I didn’t enjoy the game one bit, it was like we had reverted back too the brain numbing days watching us play under Roy’s tenure, every player was poor, some more than others.

The passing game we now play is all very well, but at some point someone has to be decisive and beat their man or find that telling pass. Let’s hope that was just a one off and we revert to a more uptempo game at Leeds.

Our passing as a team was very poor - anything other than sideways or backwards never reached their target. Olise only once tried to got on outside of Targett - i wondered why he and Wilf did not swap sides as Olise got the ball a lot on wide right but only ever came inside. Admittedly like Wilf he was tightly marked and given no room, which you have to give credit to Villa for.
Only plus's i can take was we got a full game into Tomkins and Eze (who looked off the pace) got a bit of game time.
This will be a test for Viera and his staff as i think teams have worked us out a bit going on second 1/2 performance against Burnley and this game.

They've definitely worked out that to score against us all you need to do is have someone hanging just outside the back post for corners and free-kicks and we won't trouble them in any way.

I don't think the rest of our play has suffered through other teams working out how to nullify us, but more from a change in personnel: midfield is the key battleground if we're playing a full press, and Luca and Kouyate don't have the speed or ball control for us to be effective. CG can't do it all himself unfortunately.
