No I looked it up, from Oxford Research figures and the UN. If they're unqualified then fair enough.

It is a rich irony, that the UK will have to agree with the EU, not just France, any future migration policy here.

By invitation almost, the UK would be ceding actual control of its borders to the EU, after all the brexit duffers promised.

EU migrant spotting planes in the Channel, Patel & Co are an incompetent blustering bunch of fools.

And the UKs brexit looking risible from any point of view.

The French weren’t taking them back pre-Brexit... fact where was the EU Cooperation then?

When the refugees are in France, boarding boats, how is that Britain's problem? Some common sense required here, which the spiteful little French don't have. Obviously France doesn't want any more immigrants. Is it Britain's responsibility when I travel from Ireland because I want to go there? Perhaps just ask everyone in Africa, Syria, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Turkey where they would like to go and give them the keys? I quite fancy Canada actually.

Yep and the UK needs to step up to its responsibilities and accept its fair share unlike today.

No it doesn't.

No country in Europe is obliged to do anything except protect its own people.
There comes a point where humanitarian considerations are replaced by self preservation. We are nearly there.

Yes, many other European countries are 'nearly there' but the UK hasn't been pulling its weight at all and the numbers clearly show that fact.

What happens when they get “there”?

It is looking like the migrants may have called for help before drowning and were refused by both countries.

That would surely be against maritime law as well as appalling and unconscionable.

I don't think I would take the word of a Britain hater for that.

This country's population density is higher than France or Germany. We have also been taking more immigrants and for far longer than anyone else.

Right now I am not convinced that the UK government really wants to solve this issue.

The proposals it makes via such as leaked letters on social media amount to little more than d##k swinging and popular posturing rather than practical solutions that might actually work.

But saying that I do not see an appetite across France to do much either.

Maybe a case of A curse on both your houses
