Alongside telling you how charming it is and how hard he’s studying.
Naivety has a certain quaintness

You are totally wrong on every level. He is a brilliant student who got 4 "A"s at A level and is on the way to being a research scientist of note. He is introverted and quite shy, but enjoys a pint too. He loves studying, and always has.

Oh, and he is also gay. He "came out" this year.

I never said it had to be a female tart. Plenty of male ones.
Good luck to him on his studies and hope he makes a great success of it, but I’m sure he’s not like Scrooge in the movies. He won’t tell you anything he knows you don’t want to hear. Maybe he’s followed you on here eh !

Best of luck to him on every level.

However my brother spent 3 years at Exeter Uni back in the day. Did maths and chemistry. He was and still is very shy and introverted and used to study alone in his room for hours for A levels. However, the one time I travelled down with my dad to see him - as a surprise (because he was shy and introverted and we thought it might be good to give him some company) - our first sight of him as we walked towards the campus was to see him being driven out of the uni in the back of a convertible beetle, playing a trombone very badly.
Needless to say he was absolutely s*** faced.

Thanks. That made me smile, as I am sure it did you, when it happened. Who knows? I guess he must chill out sometimes, but he isn't at Uni just to party, that's for sure.

He probably does chill out but he’s doing what I would call a proper academic degree - that requires hard work and diligence and I’m sure that was a one-off for my bro, as he did a really tricky joint honours degree.

Trouble is there are far too many ‘soft’ degrees, that shouldn’t be at that level. I once had to train a ‘grad’ who earned more than me and had a degree in ‘dance.’
I’m sure that’s fine, but you shouldn’t be placed on a graduate training program in a high profile office off the back of a degree in a non-academic subject, in my opinion.

Harry Miller won his appeal case today over 'transphobic tweets' amid criticism over how the Police create guidance for their officers from what....in my view are anti free speech laws from parliament.

I think it's nuts that this case had to go this far for simple common sense to be applied.....that, in of itself, discourages people from speaking their minds on controversial issues. They won't all have the funds that Miller was allowed.

This case is one thing, look at how the BBC report on it....look at the image they use to represent him, knowing that most people will only read the headline and look at the image.

Good for him the police should not be recording non crimes as one of the judges said the guidelines are not strict enough so it's about hurty words.

The Miller is a watershed, the Police need to be freed up to do, policing.

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

Sure, though the Police haven't responded in what I'd regard as a realistic manner to this judgement.

Russell Brand with an excellent video on just how billionaires are trying to censor and control information on the Internet and determine what is and isn't 'good' information often based upon their own ideological and political preferences.
