Emmanuel Macron sells France as EU's post-Brexit powerhouse after sealing €17bn fighter jet deal with UAE.

A result for Macron after the submarine snub cast doubts.

And Michel Barnier, who many tip as giving him a run for his money in the elections, was defeated and will now not stand.

A win double.

Win win, whats not to like?

Lets hope you condemn the house of Saud bombing in Yemen mate, with our planes, or is that ok? Certainly cutting up a journalist in an embassy while he was getting a marriage certificate in Turkey is acceptable in lots of bungles fans, not enough of an outcry to stop business surely? So our European friends in France, get a big contract, great news for them and lots of jobs, why we didn"t beat them to the contract, in a booming britain-free of EU laws, is beyond me!

I agree it's all appalling, Yemen is an affront to both countries, and the west and our values.

Yes, indeed Steeleye, unfortunately our values can easily be diluted over a nice business lunch!

Now the Government cuts the historic direct support payments to farmers but doesn’t have a scoobie what will replace them. Still, at least we have a whole month before the change starts. I’m sure farmers will be able to plan perfectly during that time, they can simply guess what comes next from DEFRA.

Meanwhile in the US subsidy payments to farmers ballooned from just over $4 billion in 2017 to more than $20 billion in 2020 – driven largely by ad hoc programs which are heavily weighted in favour of the biggest businesses.

I saw today the people of Cornwall, who voted to leave the E.U, now recieve £1 for every £833 they got from the E,U, seems fair to me!

Some of us recognised this in 2016, including my local County Councillor, who was beside himself with the stupidity and even then very concerned about the various projects that would be impacted. That was well before the pandemic hit us.

He sits as an independent but assured me that the Council, which is almost all Conservatives and independents, were as one on the need to remain a member. Just like Westminster, those in the know, knew it was folly.
