We lose by a single goal,(although a beauty and he ment it), according to 5 live, at the biggest club in the world, and feel a bit unlucky. Imagine back in the day when we were turning up in div 3, against Darlington and Chesterfield, if we knew where we would be in 40 years! The great football earlier this season might have spoiled us, lets hope it returns, its the best I have seen us play. On the plus side, if we are there or there abouts in a relegation battle, that will keep the ground full and the interest there, better that for entertainment than being mid table, short of europe and ahead of relegation. So i"m settling for a n outside chance of relegation battle, a great cup run, and the bulldozers turning up at the car park on the final day of the season-or giant crane!

We should always start with a strong eleven. Instead we start with a couple of weak players and leave a couple of strong players on the bench.

Anyone think Palace need a change of formation and perhaps play Edouard and Benteke together rather than one on the bench or one on the wing when they both play? And maybe Hughes as a DM he can play there has done for Watford.

(3-5-2): Guaita, Guehi, Andersen, Ward, Mitchell, Gallagher, Hughes, Mcarthur, Clyne, Edouard, Benteke.

They did link up well in one of the home games, even the commentator said it.

Ayew should only come off the bench late in a match when we are winning. He's a defensive sub, that's it. Or, you can start him in matches where you have no intention of ever scoring a goal.

Schlupp should only come off the bench late in a match when we are losing, and we have no other possible options on the bench. He usually makes one run per appearance, then you never see him again.

Benteke should only start when you've given up trying to pass the ball, and you just want to hoof the ball up to him and hope for a lucky bounce to Wilf.

The past 2 weeks, PV has bemoaned our lack of finishing, then he starts Ayew, Schlupp, and Benteke. Benteke does nothing, Ayew misses a sitter, and Schlupp passively watches Fred boot in the winning goal right past him.

Yes, JMac and Andersen are good players, but we shouldn't look this sh-t. Our bench today was stronger than our starting lineup. It's safe to say that PV has started to lose the plot. Today looked exactly like Royball. Negative lineup, negative football.

...and keep playing from the back with plenty of boring side and backward passes between Guiata and the back 4 only give time for the opposition to regroup. Now our weaker oppositions have sussed out our style and weakness.

We are unrecognisable from the team of a few weeks ago.
Could it be the absence of Mcarthur and Anderson that has had a dramatic effect on the effectiveness and style of our play, or something of deeper concern?
At the moment Vieira seems to trust the likes of Ayew and Schlupp over the alternatives and they just don't suit the passing game from earlier in tbe season.
We need to find a way to get Gallagher in advanced positions again with his potential for goals and assists.
I think Vieira has had to compromise his preferred way of playing because of the absences, and we have clearly lacked a threat in the last three games.

I’m sure the commentators said he hasn’t scored in 34 games.

Whenever Guaita has the ball he should get it high up ASAP for CG, Eduardo and whoever upfield to chase.

On TSN they said 42.

I think Olise should start at least a few games in a row to help him find his feet in the PL. Eze also must be desperate to start after watching our midfield and forwards today.

Thought today’s performance defensively was better than the last few matches and Tompkins was back to he’s best. However, without Andersen we have lost our way at the back with our passing through to the midfield and then to our forward players. Without Andersen and Macca the lines from the back to front have gaps meaning we aren’t able to do the short quick passing. And numbers getting into the opponents box have disappeared. We therefore lose the ball easier at the back in midfield and up frontand are under pressure more often. Not sure how we resolve this unless we use the transfer window to get players in to suit Vieria’s style of play when others are injured? Hopefully this is a short term problem and we will get back to the way we’re playing before Burnley away?

We miss them but it's more than that. We have been worked out, as we always would be. We are being pressed before we can press. Gallagher has been recognised as our main creative player and the link we always look for and he is being given no time and crowded out. This is now a real challenge for our management team. We weren't just second best today, we were third or fourth best. The ref and the crowd played better and we were lucky to get 0 goals the lack of belief we showed.
