Quite shocked to see this report claiming that only one of twelve toilets used only by those with Parliamentary passes was free from traces of drugs. We all know that hypocrisy is a given in politics, but anyone (MP or not) claiming to be concerned at the gang related violence and deprivation in this country or abroad that is taking this stuff is a massive hypocrite for fuelling the demand for it. No wonder there's a lot of MPs who want to legalise drugs. Really hope that anyone caught using is named and shamed.
Living down here does have some advantages. At least you can see them cry. |

I am not surprised there are probably several thousand people in the HOC on a daily basis from security, cleaners to researchers and assistants to MPs bound to be some drug users.

I don't think any one is surprised - the double-standard around reporting and indeed prosecution for drug use between the poor and the middle class is a disgrace.

Could have been one or two people who may or may not be MPs using multiple toilets for this purpose over a period of time, so hardly an epidemic. More sensationalism I'm afraid and we shouldn't be too quick to criticize unless of course it is MPs that are caught and named.

Agreed, I like the idea of punishing Tarquin and Jemima by taking away their passport and driving licence. Drug use amongst the middle and upper classes is not a victimless crime. I worked in a bank and if I had lost my passport that would have significantly impacted my career. Edited by Badger11 (06 Dec 2021 1.17pm)

I did think this is a deflection from the real issues, the people up north with no electricity for over a week- that wouldn"t take so long in Chipping Norton- the even up economy slogan looks a tad stale. The price rises that are going to cripple people, eat or heat? The missing £47 thousand million pounds, in bungles pals bank accounts.The amount of asylum seekers, or freeloaders/terrorists coming in to the country-even though we alone control our borders, remember "taking back control"?. I also think the amount of time given to the poor kid killed by his parents in the press and government spokesmen was a deflection- they wanted an immediate response to give the scumbags more jail time-something we all agree in- but why not an immediate investigation to the £47 thousand million in bungles pals accounts? We can surely do both, with immediate effect! While we are at it, lets also have an immediate investigation in to the £36 thousand million in the track and trace app- thats a lot of lolly for a broken and unused system!

I honestly don’t see this through a Right / Left prism CE. Tony Blair presided over the decimation drugs caused to large parts of Edinburgh and Glasgow and under the SNP Dundee is falling apart. Could the money being spent on fighting “the drug war” be better spent on improving the lives of those affected? Of course, but is the will to do it there?
