Jeez

Khan takes credit for this but blames the government for TFL have to be rescued before it went bankrupt.

Just like Wee Jimmie they want it both ways all successes are their's any failures blame the Tories.

Khan threatening to bring in a commuting charge from the outer boroughs

[Link]

I can't believe he is serious about this if he is even the most passionate Khan supporters wont vote for him.

As for the Tories they could shave a monkey and pin a blue rosette on it and it will get in next time.

Its partly TfL is going bust, despite Central Govt bailing them out to the tune of £4b, plus he wants to close the Bakerloo line completely & axe up to 200 bus services.

Gotta love Sad Dick Khunt & Labour.

If only I could think of the reason he gets so much stick....

Central Government still screwing TFL, but that doesn't fit the agenda!

Wouldn't be the massive staff count, pay rises and not putting fares up for 6 years then?

TFL obviously suffered during the Pandemic and needed assistance but there is no doubt that it wastes huge sums of money every day.
Sad Dick doesn't want to cut jobs and being Labour through and through does if possible want to over reward people for their time - it goes with the territory unfortunately.
Khan is a poor Mayor who seems to have no real idea as to how to overcome their problems without constantly asking for more money or thinking of different ways to tax people from outside the area.
He needs to make savage staff cuts, stop wasting money on pointless left wing liberal policies and gestures and actually make Londoners pay more for their transport.
The political gesture is so obvious - charge Londoners less - make everyone else in the Country pay more and then SAD DICK gets voted in again.
As with all politicians it is all about them and not about the people or the place they serve.
I detest the man with a vengeance but for balance given that I am a Tory supporter - I really liked Red Ken - he was a proper Mayor unlike the charletan in place now who is simply ruining the greatest city in the world!

In January 2020 before COVID really hit home the markets down graded TFL debt not quite to junk bonds. TFL was in a serious financial hole before COVID was even mentioned.

In Khan's first election campaign he promised not to raise fares despite the Tories announcing that TFL would lose £700m in state aid. Before he was elected every opponent and even independent travel experts said that Khan's numbers did not add up. Not only did he not reduce spending he actually increased it, COVID has had a huge impact on TFL finances but he is using that as a shield for his own incompetence.

Free travel for children, free travel for over 60 but not yet official pension age (that's me) subsidised travel for various groups e.g. unemployed. Does anyone actually pay full fare?

Had a hilarious situation on a bus where the driver wouldn't let me pay two fares on a card. Utter madness. Obviously rude driver who I just laughed at.

Yup I had that one with a friend from oop north I had to use 2 different cards.

Khan seems intent on not putting up fares and punishing the motorist. Free travel for kids is great but when you are in a big hole something has to give.

Before I got my Oyster 60+ card I used to moan that I was probably the only person on the bus paying a full fare.

So closing one tube line will make all the difference. Because they will be reducing the amount of losses they are making overall.
'Kin 'ell, it's the pantomime season.
