Not so clearcut anymore. There was a debate about room temperature and chilled for decades. I prefer ale cellar cool, rather than actively chilled. Here is a CAMRA piece on it. I remember when ale was dying out. It's one of the few positive things in life that it made a comeback. I think both Wisbech and Stirling will enjoy this article. I want a beer fridge now, fully stocked. I'll make do with a bag in the shed. I quite like the Aldi and Lidl ales, my favourite in England was always Spitfire. You can sometimes get that in Tesco's or Lidl here too. Totally off topic but I feel it's worth it.

I've had them all. The Porterhouse is an Irish chain bar that invented Oyster Stout. I used to like it, there was one opposite my house for years. I'm not keen on the Blue Moon, I've no idea why it has a celery taste to my mind. It reminds me of the terraces and the celery song. Innis and Gunn do one fermented in whisky barrels don't they? Bloody strong stuff. I had two brother in law's (one dead now) who were real ale drinkers and they fed it me since young.
However, in my defense I sometimes like a few pints of the cheapest lager, or Guinness, I'm not set on anything in particular. Basically,if it has alcohol in it, I have drunk it. I have Scottish ancestry so that probably explains it. My grandad was a Highland Scot.

You found one I haven't had. There are so many now though. I told this story on HOL years ago, but I'll bore you all again.
I went down my local in England between Christmas and New Year. They had a Winter Ale called Twelve Days. I drank maybe seven and was feeling a bit tipsy. I stepped outside. I lived about a mile away up a hill. Once I hit the air, I basically puked and collapsed. I proceeded to crawl home. I got home, there was a party in my living room, I still couldn't stand and crawled to the toilet with my head resting on the edge. A couple of pukes later and everyone laughing at me - and off to bed.

A couple of days later I went back to the pub. I said I must have had a bad pint. The barman asked how many I had? I said maybe seven. He laughed his arse off and showed me the tap. It was 12% stuff.

Oh well, we can only dream. I went back with one once, up in Donegal, as we were in action, so to speak, I had to turn, run to the window and puke out of it. I guess what's worse is that we carried on. Happy days! If you really want to drink, try Donegal. They drink pints with a 'wee one', which is whiskey and a small jug of water. The hangovers are averted by starting again in the morning. Not for the faint hearted.
The Master Gunner a pretty famous place I think. One of the real old pubs. Not the cheapest but not expensive, seem to remember drinking one of the Bristol Ales in there, Bat something.
