seems like an agent is keeping his name in the news? suggestions there is a concrete bid (13m euros?) from us incoming? im guessing we wont sign 2 forwards as we are also interested in another forward mentioned in these threads.... with Mateta not wanted/needed, it seems we will sign either this guy on a perm or the other player on loan to buy option assuming we can get rid off Mateta?

This guy may be very good or he may not be but I'm astounded at the over-egging of the pudding by posters here the majority of whom, my guess is, have probably never seen him play in person and beyond that have probably seen little of him even on TV. Tack Roma and Real Madrid onto any player name and the reputations go into orbit along with the fees. Yet Real apparently don't want him and nor, now, do Roma (not that clubs never make mistakes). Still, twelve months ago there were similar posts about signing Mateta; that ended well, didn't it? While if Patrick wants him then I trust his judgment completely, if we're going to spend around £15m I'd at least like to see what else is out there first and to be honest, from a personal point of view my judgment will always err on the side of players who've done it in the PL already. All that said might be a great signing; I have no idea. But I'm pretty sure those saying he's a "can't miss" don't really know what they're talking about, even if time proves them to be right.

As i live in Spain i have Real Madrid TV as part of my package, they show everything, even the players on loan, Mayoral is a very good player, but he isn't Benzema, but we are shopping at different places to real Madrid, i wouldn't go on Mourinho's player assessments he couldn't spot the De Bryne or Salah were good players when he was at Chelsea. he is a AJ clone like i said before and did well at Levante and Roma, until Abraham took his place, he can play LW as well

That being said, I would rather have Borja than Dike. Scoring goals for Barnsley in Championship is a world away from scoring goals for Roma in Serie A, especially given what Italian defenders can be like. However, any deal for Mayoral will probably depend on getting Meteta off the books.

I think we can cancel the loan deal and send him back. We can not cancel loan deal but it can be terminated by agreement with his parent club. He was sent out on loan because they could not afford his wages and the agreement of a purchase at end of loan at an agreed price subject to certain criteria. His parent club do not want him back for financial reasons and it looks unlikely we will purchase at the agreed price as criteria not met. The French club also can not pay his wages so there are a number of possible scenario. 1) We keep him to end of season but do not trigger purchase clause. then:- 2) We want him gone so will continue to pay all or or part of his wages at french Club (or parent club) thus getting Loan and squad place back Since he scored yesterday I think we may do first option and see how he goes and make a cheeky bid if we think he can fill 3rd striker position next season

Meteta's contract expires in June 2022, so will be a free agent. Given his wages, I think we are stuck with him until the end of the season. then he will probably goto St Etienne. Unless he performs sensationally in the next 6 months and we sign him permanently. Probably rules out any incoming striker in January.
