The much touted turkey shortage seems to dodged your area

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

I was talking to a guy from the HGV industry not so long ago - he works for a manufacturer so its seemed sensible that he would have at least some grasp on the HGV situation -

He was saying that back in the day companies running Commercial vehicles needed a CPC (Certificate of professional competence) this CPC was held by the companies transport manager & the most relevant bits of the legislation or rules / guidelines were then relayed to the drivers & enforced by the company transport manager -

Apparently some years ago the government brought in that the drivers needed to have their own CPC & accept their own responsibility for staying within the rules & the documentary upkeep - and of course renew the CPC licence periodically -

Given that driving HGV was often an industry that provided a sanctuary to lots of people who didn't do so well in school this added layer of paperwork / resitting CPC etc etc discouraged many older drivers from continuing & new ones from joining , especially those that backed away from the paperwork side of life -
So what this guy was basically saying was that this shortage has been coming for a long time & Brexit has no doubt accelerated it with many East Europeans choosing to go home rather than get caught up in whatever immigration regulations that were being imposed or would be imposed in the months / years to come.

The pandemic has exaggerated many brexit issues none of which would have been as bad if covid had not come along.

Donald Trumps Scottish golf courses in Ayrshire and Aaberdeen seem to think so, Brexit has caused them to lose money and HGV shortages were part of the cause- karma!
