Struggling to understand all the fuss here. Blair was Prime Minister and this is what happens to Prime Ministers. How the system works.

Now I am more than happy for the entire struture to be destroyed and am increasingly becoming indifferent to the idea of a constitutional monarchy having any kind of meaningful role in how I want my life to be but this is just froth.

Blair is everything bad all of you say he is and then some. Not defending him in the slightest and see him as the manifestation of almost everything I disagree with but this is all wasted energy.

Mr and Mrs Kenny, now Sir and Dame, ride bicycles, apparently.

Presumably lovely Laura is a Lady as well as a Dame, being as she's married to a Sir.

Blair gets his reward for services to money accumulation, including via stamp duty avoidance.

Why does the name “Dame Trott” sound so familiar?

Either that or they let the King sleep with their wife / daughter / sister and their descendants seem to think they are our betters.

The Honours system is OK for recognising a career’s achievement but not for sportspeople who win a race or actors who manage to stay alive.

Seconded.

It might empower him to get back into politics and challenge Starmer to take over Labour.

Nor for England football managers who don't win a tournament.

Nor ex-England footballers who part own an American 'soccer' franchise.

The lord god himself could bless him and give him wings and Labour still wouldn't have him back leading.

I could imagine it though....the awful leading the awful competing against the awful themselves led by the awful..

If you call helping and enabling the borrowing and then spending of 299 billion combating something a bit worse than the flu an achievement...and that was just the borrowing for the first year...God knows what it is for the second.....the poverty of the next generation will maybe result in them melting the honours down for coinage.
