Olise, Benteke and Edouard across the front with Eze in behind. And if we can snag Nketiah, swap out Benteke.

With Gallagher and Hughes in midfield with Jimmy Mac as soon as he returns.

Happy days!

Not sure about Benteke. Would prefer to see Mateta given a couple of starts to see if he might be worth persevering with. We can afford to let him have those starts without risking triggering any commitment to buy. If he proves promising and we end up buying him we can jettison Benteke in the summer.

I would suggest we need points rather than trying to establish if a loanee is worth buying. The coaching staff on the training ground is capable with that judgement without risking dropped points. COYP

With all due respect, I'm glad PV is in charge instead of you. Mateta is cabbage (good finish aside).

Unfortunately Benteke is also a cabbage.

With Ayew and Wilf away, I'd assume we'll need to play Edouard wide, so will need one of those 2 duffers to play through the middle.

But I'd also be a fan of trying Eze wide (as he played last season)and go with a front 3 of Olise, Edouard and Eze

I think Benteke is no more than a squad player these days. He had a brief spell earlier in the season when he looked like the player of old, but he hasn't maintained it.

Mateta, still looks a long way off being able to play at this level. In my view, he and Benteke aren't reliable starters. And I don't think we need the two of them if they are blocking a potential signing. Whether we have the funds available I don't know.

That’s because we stopped playing him.

He’s a confidence player, which means play him, feed him and he’ll score. Muck around giving him the odd start mixed with a few minutes etc and he’ll suffer.

Just my take. There’s still a player there.

Two more appearances and I think we will have to buy him,we all agree that for £13 million there are better player available.

My wish for 2022 - bye-bye to Benteke! Fed up with the big. static man missing chances and giving the ball away.

I couldn't agree less. Yep, he might score the odd goal if he plays 90 mins every week, but the guy is detrimental to our style of football.

Limited movement - no intelligent runs, no pressing
Unable to physically impose himself on games, especially poor considering his size
Spends more time with his arms in the air than Wilf

He hasn't made anywhere near 15 STARTS, so not sure where you get 2 more games from.

If Eze was fully match fit then I'd like this front 3 as well but I doubt that he is. I hope to see him get some minutes from the bench whilst Wilf and Jordan ae at AFCON, though. It will be interesting to see who, out of the two you have called 'duffers, PV starts as striker in the cup on Saturday .
