In my view this is just fallacious expediency.

Left, far left...that's the only support you get on here.

A site you willingly come to and yet a site you have criticised many times...despite it allowing you to do so....unlike as is afforded on the bbs....a site where you viewpoints are supported.

I get a deal of support on here. Not all of it, by any means, in the public forum, nor from those on the left. In fact, I don't see any from the real left posting here.

I have never criticised the site. That's against the rules. I criticise some opinions. All of which, mine included, are I understand, allowed here. Something every believer in free speech ought to be celebrating and not complaining about.

Unlike some I have no interest in populating an echo chamber of similar views where I can get my biases confirmed. I much prefer testing, and strengthening, my opinions against counter ones. That's the only way to learn and ensure they are valid.

As it also pricks the bubbles of nonsense routinely to be found here, it is also satisfying.

So you are saying you get PM messages from people on the right supporting you on here?

I very much doubt that....if that's true they should come and reveal their support publicly.

If I actually believed that your politics was supported by the right on Hol I'd leave.

And you have criticised the moderation on here...and as a site is its people and not the code that's the reality.

In my view you leak fallacious expediency like a continual dripping tap....your only conservativism exists for your bank account.

Oh god, that whole post was just unpleasant to read. Sometimes I will swing by the politics conversations as the debates get lively, interesting and very occasionally I feel I can get a solid view on opposing views...but honestly, what was that?

"In my view you leak fallacious expediency like a continual dripping tap.....just a pathologically dishonest lefty troll whose only conservativism exists for his bank account."

That paragraph is too filled with bile to be a part of any conversation. Youngsters now are using a phrase which I really like. Its "Touch grass". Roughly seems to translate to "You are taking this and yourself too seriously, and/or getting way too intense. Walk away and do something else, go to another conversation, listen to music, go outside and touch the grass...

No conversation with a fellow Crystal Palace supporter should lead to "you leak fallacious expediency like a continual dripping tap" so, we love you, you genuinely entertain both sides of every argument, you are smart and you have a refreshingly wonderful use of the English language that is becoming increasingly rare...but please...touch grass my friend

I have a particular issue with this poster.

Perhaps your sensitivity dial may be set a little too highly if you consider this bile....there's no swearing and it's an honest reflection of my view.

However, in respect of your commentary I'll refrain from conversing with WE for a while....however, I'll also be refraining from touching any sort of grass.

Walls are expensive, inefficient relics of yesterday's solutions to problems like this. They are the simplistic answer of simple men to a complex problem.

Walls can be by-passed. Unless you also build watch towers with armed guards ready to shoot they can be climbed, tunnelled under or flown over. Routes by sea work too, as we know only too well.

The long term solution is, as it is for us too, to remove the desire. No-one wants to leave their home, pay shed loads of money to traffickers for an uncertain outcome. So cure whatever is creating the desire, alongside opening legal routes for those you want and firm policies of removal for those you don't.

Which brexit will allow us to do. I thank you.

No-one should be asked to reveal the contents of private messages and I certainly won't. It is though very revealing when someone demands that they should. It demonstrates a sense of entitlement, ownership and control that is as odious as it is unacceptable.

Not everyone on "the right" is unpleasant and aggressive. Many can disagree with humour and good will, which promotes mutual respect.

I have not criticised the moderation. Nor praised it. I don't think it's appropriate to do so in an open forum. I have occasionally expressed sympathy for the tasks they need to undertake on our behalf.

Unfortunately not. Brexit makes it harder. Any solution to our problem requires the co-operation of our immediate neighbours and those down the line to the first place of illegal entry. All of whom are in the EU. Us leaving makes such co-operation more difficult to achieve. As the French have always put their needs above those of others, us leaving is not going to encourage them to solve our problem. They will be more likely to dump their problems on us.

A far more sensible remembrance of the Capitol building event.

Here is President Biden's address in full on the anniversary of the Jan 6 riot.

President Biden "It's all Trumps fault, everything, the DC riot, the pandemic, inflation border issues, the plunge in my popularity ratings all Trump, all day."

Thank you Mr President.

Biden is failing in a lot of key policy areas.

Trying to sustain the Trump hatred is merely a poor attempt to distract attention from his own sub-standard performance.

Dear Old Joe has just made a whole speech about how bad Trum is and was.
He obviously has nothing better or worth talking about after a year in charge.
The man is a liability and with the thought of Kamala Harris coming up on the rails the whole thing is downright dangerous!
I don't follow U.S. politics much but to date he has
- made the Mexican border issue doubly worse
- Taken a lot of money out of the pockets of the average American
- Walked away from Afghanistan without so much as a backwards glance and like Bush and Blair before him has wreaked havoc, death and misery on poor innocent people.
- Major cities are being deserted due to huge tax hikes - thanks Joe
- Death on the streets continues to rise - particularly on and in Democrat run ones.
I am sure he has done some good things but right now I just can't think of them - waste of space that he is!
