If whoever takes over at Man Utd this summer decides to move Phil Jones on I think we should have a look at him as a short term move in defence, as backup for Guehi and Andersen. He's only had one game back since his 2 year knee injury (actually it's been longer than 2 years but he played through it) but looked like the only one at United who was actually putting any effort in during that game, and if he can prove his fitness he'll be a good role model for the younger players, having gone through years of adversity and mockery and coming out the other side.

With the things he's won in his career and the ups and downs that come with it, his mentality could be beneficial to the dressing room as a whole and if his fitness problems are now in the past, he'll also be a great asset on the pitch. Plus if he can still play at CDM he'll fill a gap in the side.

Obviously he'd have to take a considerable pay cut to join Palace but if he wants to prove he can still play then he'll probably take it.

Aahhhha !!!! you cannot be serious as a famous tennis player once said, a competent old fashioned player which is not the way Vieira is going. Suggest Burnley would be more appropriate.COYP

It appears the clubs transfer policy is investing in youth, not old injured has beens on big salaries.

If OPs think starting a title starting 'Hear me out ..' is going to temper the viper-like responses of fellow HOLers, they're sadly much mistaken

Jones may have surpassed expectations in his recent comeback game against Wolves, but sorry, I don't think we want to restart buying 30 something has-beens. Likewise, I don't want to see the likes of Ramsey etc. here either. We are now treading a very different path to when we were trying to retain our PL status under previous managers.

Isn't ramsay seen as a 2nd half season plug filler till Juve flog him to Newcastle for a song (and he then spends the remainder of his career on the geordie treatment table)?

Seen as such by whom? Not by Palace's board hopefully. We have a great squad of players who seem to work together well. Players like Ramsey etc, parachuting in so they can get minutes under their belt for national side selection could cause some disharmony. Why take the risk when we don't need to? Let Newcastle have him now.

Crikey, a player that will want 100k plus a week to be back up, this kind of transfer is what we need to avoid.

I feel sorry for him but he is a bit of a liability at times and he is very slow indeed which isn't good considering how many times he gets caught out of position!
Not for me thanks

A definite NO from me.. always thought he was overrated and a liability.. also a cheat, seen him feign injury on a few occasions to try and get opposition players sent off.. and as mentioned by others before, slow, a large salary and close to being the wrong side of 30.. NO thank you
