I like old school Decs & my wife loves to decorate the interior & exterior of the house.
we have 2 xmas trees in different rooms, decorated to different times.
front room is 50s/60s, living room 80s/90s.
we never throw anything away and have our own stuff & decs going back generations.
I love it.

Sounds like a cool idea.

I was considering getting into vinyl....having a needle playing 45s would certainly take me back to the 80s.

We always take ours down before new year now, still having lights flashing on January 1st just feels wrong, Christmas is a distant memory by then

That's because you put them up too early - traditionally decorations should only go up on Christmas Eve (the end of Advent) and that way when they come down at Epiphany (6th Jan) you haven't had time to get bored of them.......

Took mine down on the 2nd....So a little early.

Mind you I've taken to being one of those outdoor lights and display show offs and I'm building up my stock.....when the weather beats one of them up it's pretty expensive to replace them.

But you get a lot of nice comments from the locals for a month.

If i had my way, it would just be some lights hung from the existing apple tree in the garden. Else these guys in a local village seem to be going more Stirling's way.

Our stuff came down 2 days early for several reasons. We discovered the dogs had been chewing lower sections of the tree, which was resulting in rapid needle loss. Also we can only go to the tip on certain days to recycle the tree, which rather dictated the schedule.
Decorations added to most years, with one or two bits, as older decorations finally succumb to age. Then all go into a big cardboard box in the loft until next year.

Tut tut Mr Stirlingsays, Needles are for 78s as styluses are used for 45s. Unlike you to get the science wrong

Surely that should be 'styli'.

I have many flaws.

But only one ceiling.

I get it.

It's not for everyone.

There is a house at the top end of my street, where the decorations have still been sprawled across their place in April most years..

That's pushing it. They're either very lazy or exceptionally festive .

There is a house near my mother in Ewell where there are so many external lights that they are kept up all year round although not switched on outside the festive season
