One thing this game made me realise is what a big part Kouyate has been playing for us. He must be the most undervalued player at Palace and half the posts don’t even like him. He must be one of the reasons Vieiras new style of very attractive football is working so well.

Agreed, think we missed him big time. Plus the fact Schlup isn’t a good enough replacement in our midfield 3 alongside Gallagher and Hughes? Another reason was that we didn’t press as we normally do and played far too deep for big parts of the match and we gave away the ball a lot as well as some silly free kicks. Bad day at the office but we still won :-) Phew!

Not disagreeing with what CK adds, but IMO when all are fit we'll have a midfield of Hughes, Macca and Connor. With Hughes acting as the deep pivot letting the other 2 press

Having a DCM that can turn with the ball is so important to our new style.

Agreed!!! He takes a lot of stick, but you could see the difference without him. He wins the battles in the air - does all the dirty work in the middle of the park and provides protection to our central defenders.

cant agree with that he was a good stop gap when we had no CH for me player of the season , but he has lost his midfield skills because of the role he has played , as for heading no he is awful for such a big guy he doesnt win enough in the air , even my west ham mates have said he was hit and miss in the air but good on the ground, but he is better than luka

Kouyate gives us the balance in midfield that’s missing with Macca out. Don’t disagree that Macca, Gallagher and Hughes (not yet played together) should be a better 3. Problem being without MacArthur and Kouyate we are playing Schlup in the 3 and it’s made us much weaker. Perhaps we need Luka in that 3 again even if he isn’t the player he was a couple of years back until the return of Kouyate/Macca?

No, he had a mad moment, when you can see there were two players he could have comfortably played the ball to feet. It happens, but we (he) got out of jail so that's that.

All the critics have been heaped upon Butland. Yes, he was a bit clumsy, but after watching it in slow motion, I think Mitchell was the big culprit. I hate those back-passes, but this was a stupid one. Our young left-back should have seen that Butland was under pressure and hoofed it somewhere.

Whether for or against BLM and all the extended meanings associated with it, either applaud it or wait the 5 seconds until its over and shut the f**k up. Booing it in this day and age is pathetic - typical Millwall.

As for targetting Connor as a Chelsea Rent Boy - he is from Epsom as I understand it, not Chelsea, he has not played a first team game for Chelsea, he is currently plying his trade at Palace, he has never as far as I aware applied himself as a Rent Boy. The chants are meaningless. They may be offensive, but that is the point. 'Sacked in the morning', '...f**king useless' etc etc are all offensive to the recipient, but essentially meaningless.

It is a football match FFS, it that is offensive to anyone then go and watch rugby or cricket, with all the passionless, could-not-care-less-about-the-result attitude that goes with it.

I am aware this view will not be appreciated by some, but I would rather my football experience is not like a tourist trip to the Premier League theme park that a day out at Arsenal, Tottenham, Chelsea and West Ham has become.

oh come on, the rent boy chant has nothing to do with Conor's loan situation. It's been sung at many young (ish) blond hair players over the years - Le Saux was the first i can remember, but i recall Simon Rodger getting it at a few away grounds. Had gone away for a while but is clearly back. It is clearly offensive.

Of the issues on Saturday, i am surprised this has got the most coverage though. The bottle throwing is clearly unacceptable and was even downplayed by the commentators (who were shocking BTW). Booing the taking of the knee is just so pathetic, but that's Millwall for you.

With respect, when Guehi played the ball to Butland the two Millwall players who pressed him were outside the area.Perhaps fingers can be pointed at Andersen who was ball watching and allowed Afobe to run off the back of him and pressurise Butland.

In the games he has played this season, I don't think Butland looks comfortable on the ball.

He could have put his laces through it but seemed caught in two minds.

Anyway, even the best make mistakes - Jules v. Everton, remember ?!

As a goalkeeper you need to be confident in decisions, right or wrong. Butland didn’t do either, he just dithered on the ball. Not quite sure how you managed to get Andersen some blame, how was he supposed to anticipate Butlands fiasco.

I think that the way we play it is drilled into the players and goalkeeper to pass the ball to the nearest player . Butland tried to do this but got closed down very quickly and not wanting to go against the bosses orders made a complete hash of it . This situation will happen again over the season . I will also say I am not a lover of our type of football we need to mix it up more .

The football has been changing in the prem league the last few years! rarely do you see a goal keeper take a long goal kick now. teams want to keep possesion and build from the back!

I am certainly enjoying watching us with more of the ball and the play it out from the back is exciting!

For the reason that Andersen was ball-watching and Afobe got a free run behind him to challenge Butland.Andersen reacted when he saw the danger but it was too late.Had Andersen tracked Afobe he would have been near Butland and possibly in a position to prevent or block a shot.
I accept there will be some, probably many, who will conclude that I am being harsh on Andersen and spouting hogwash.
