I've never really liked statues. You can bin all of them, as far as I care. That might be an opinion shared by a few. They always make me feel a bit uneasy, as they often look like macabre caricatures. and their location is always prone to problems of site.

I'd rather legacy of inspirational individuals was kept alive in books/internet, machinery, structures (museums, if necessary) and social fabric, etc, etc.

I did like the Queen Victoria statue in Warrior Square, St Leonards. If only because after big nights out, it was newly decorated with topical attire.
See her impersonation of The Pet Shop Boys.

She was not amused.

There’s a statue of the Duke of Wellington in George Square in Glasgow which has had a cone on it’s head since the 1970s. There have been a few initiatives over the years to stop it happening but they’ve all been ignored.

She does well to keep up with the fashions of the times. A real trend setter.

That statue does have unpleasant baggage attached to it, and not just the vandal, but where does it end

I look up and see this statue and have no idea who it is - just artwork to me I'm afraid.
However these guys will quite rightly get done.
Very amusing though to see a BBC building with some non pc stuff attached.
Expect to see taxpayers money wasted on removal!
