I think you have a point: an older head is worth considering as our defence needs solidifying and I think PV may be deficient tactically in this area. At the right price perhaps. These games where we're defending points in the final minutes needs a different headset and the subbing on of a Phil Jones sends a clear message about what what will now happen.

If whoever takes over at Man Utd this summer decides to move Phil Jones on I think we should have a look at him as a short term move in defence, as backup for Guehi and Andersen. He's only had one game back since his 2 year knee injury (actually it's been longer than 2 years but he played through it) but looked like the only one at United who was actually putting any effort in during that game, and if he can prove his fitness he'll be a good role model for the younger players, having gone through years of adversity and mockery and coming out the other side.

With the things he's won in his career and the ups and downs that come with it, his mentality could be beneficial to the dressing room as a whole and if his fitness problems are now in the past, he'll also be a great asset on the pitch. Plus if he can still play at CDM he'll fill a gap in the side.

Obviously he'd have to take a considerable pay cut to join Palace but if he wants to prove he can still play then he'll probably take it.

Whilst we need some experience at CB in the absence of an injured Tomkins, Jones is NOT imo the answer. Ideally I would want someone who is 2/3 years younger and who isn't an injury risk.

Not quick, short for a centre back and can't tackle.

Enjoying getting up later and not having someone who knows better than me (apart from the missus of course).

This 'cos he's good at giving penalties away.

Not for me thanks

No need to feel sorry for him, 10 years at United on £100k a week, that’s £52m. Not bad for someone with limited ability.
