If Sean Dyche was manager instead of Patrick Vieira with the same players would we be higher up the league?

I think I know why you're posing the question, although my first reaction was one of disbelief.

You are suggesting Dyche might instill more resilience and better organisation in dealing with set pieces etc.

Well, I for one would not want Dyche anywhere near Selhurst. And I don't think for one minute that our results would be better. Our transformation under PV has been remarkable in so many ways. We play some lovely football and the team is developing well. Great new, young players coming through and the future looks very bright. Today was tough, but realistically I suspect very few of us expected us to beat them.

So, no, I don't think Dyche would have us any further up the league. I'm firmly behind PV.....for the time being!

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

I think that we would probably have a similar number of points -
(+ / - 3) but the football wouldn't be anywhere near as enjoyable.

When posing such a question you really need to explain why you asked it in the first place and also what is your opinion to the question posed.
In the end it's a moot point, Dyche isn't our manager and won't be.

I like Dyche as a manager.
If good management is defined as making the most of resources available then Dyche seems to me to tick the boxes.
We’d maybe have a similar points total if he had joined, although that obviously can’t be proved.
However, I watched the chairman’s interview before the Brighton game and he seems committed to a more progressive style of football which in the long term in his view is more sustainable.
He is of the view if you rely on deep defence and counter attack you’ll eventually get found out and fail.
Personally I welcome the objective and the aspiration which the players and manager we’ve bought in seem to share.
Having said that, I would like us to mix the game up more and we don’t always deal well with teams who press high us high when we’re playing the ball around in our own penalty area.

Pointless question.

Dyche isn't our manager and never will be and if he was, he wouldn't of signed the same players.

I think if the club done everything fans on here think we should, we would be top on 69 points with a goal difference of 50, Its so simple, dont know why viera just doesn't read the hol.

The reason i asked is are we trying to get to a place and style that is just out of our reach, i find it hard to watch when the keeper rolls it to the CD and then back to the keeper, do we have the players to do that, or is it better to play longer, get the ball wide to olise or Shlupp/wilf and get more crosses in as we have 3 6fo0t plus centre forwards, isn't that playing to our strengths

Fair question, and yeah I think it's certainly feasible that we could have collected one or two more points this season under Dyche, or under Hodgson for that matter. It's equally possible that we'd have the same number of points, or possibly a few less than under Vieira of course. We'll never know.

What I feel certain of is that none of these managers would have got us into Europe (not the posh end anyway) and none of them would have got us relegated. Beyond those two extremes, all that matters is how we play (i.e that watching the team isn't purgatory), and even if the way Vieira plays could somehow be proved to cost us a few points compared to Dyche, I wouldn't change it.

I don't really care where exactly in midtable we finish, so what's a few points between friends?
