On the Palace site there was mention of Ramsey, Bamba and Mateta.

But not DVB.

Seems a big fuss about nothing to me.

As I mentioned before, I'm not sure why we would want a loan for six months for anyone on high wages.

We are strong enough as is to avoid relegation, and we are not making Europe.

I understand each place in the table is about GBP 2 million, but unless we're sure he could get us a couple of places higher then we'd just be doing Man U a favour for nothing.

I'm not upset about not loaning him at all.

I do agree, but the fact we could be signing someone even on loan for 4 months, who played in the champions league semi final 3 years ago, was exciting, and seeing him and Gallagher in our midfield, for 4 months only, would be the most brilliant time for me as a Palace fan for more than 30 years, even for only a short time.

I’m disappointed just for the fact that the signing or loan would’ve been a good statement of intent.

Pat would’ve had a signing over the line from his contacts - similar to Gerrard and Coutinho.

The players we brought in over the summer were targeted and worked on as part of the clubs philosophy and were identified and worked on over time.

This would’ve been a signing that the manager could only have influence over as a global name and one which could’ve added value and Panache to the midfield for the remainder of the season.

I hear Darren Ambrose on talk sport about 30 mins ago say palace fans will have a lot to be excited about in the summer regarding transfers.

Two ways of looking at it. He isnt very good otherwise, he would be in the UTD midfield, 2 managers choose not to play him. He wont be blocking our own players from progressing.

If he'd done what Favre did to us then I can understand the anger, but for a 4 month loan , why would anyone unpsticks and move to London when he can stay where he's settled.

London, Croydon & surrounding area's do have things called hotels. So, no need to 'upsticks'.

Disappointed as well. There have been a lot of good players gone to Man U post Ferguson who have badly under performed. Probably a number of reasons for this but it sounded like he is best suited to a team playing 4x3x3 and so our shape could well have brought the best out of him. Ultimately if Everton had gone for a different manager then he would have been a Palace player.
I guess move on. Kouyate scored an imported goal in AFCON so all is not lost.

For all the positive steps forward we have taken the last 6 months, we still tend to show a slightly smaller club mentality when it comes to getting deals over the line. To be fair I’m totally ambivalent with regard to DVdB as I’m not sure he would have been right for us but if the club really thought he was the right player then maybe trying to knock a few quid off here and there in negotiations has backfired as Everton have jumped in and offered full wages plus loan fee.

We will never know the fully story but we do appear to lose a lot of our targets to West Ham and other clubs of that ilk. I was kind of hoping we had moved on from that, maybe we will maybe we won’t, approach to transfer business. I am however pleased to hear from Darren Ambrose that there are transfer plans afoot for the summer so perhaps PV is not currently that concerned about improving our existing playing staff using expensive loans and can wait for season end.

Of course the other way of viewing this is that everything about Ramsey and DVdB was click bait and therefore we were not particularly bothered about signing them anyway, in which case I am misjudging the situation.

I think all fans like to see one or two January signings, but we all know the associated cost of business this time of year so maybe we are best out of it. We will know for certain by the end of the day anyway.

I was just going to say - at £100,000. a week the cost of a nice hotel room (or suite) on a monthly rate wouldn't break the bank.

Well, I, for one, am very irritated by this and somewhat perplexed.
Berkamp was supposedly responsible for setting this up with Vieira, and now he goes to Everton?

He is a lot better than Schlupp so what was not to like?

We need a fresh face in the dressing room for the sake of morale at least.

Sounds like it was more that Everton were willing to throw money at the problem vs him choosing them over us.

Annoying, but it was a nice to have. Everton are also an absolute mess at the min.

Not sure moral is an issue unless I've missed anything?
