BBC report he is close to signing a permanent contract. He is obviously not a top drawer striker but I am happier about this now than I would have been a couple of months ago.

If we are not prepared to go for a proven higher grade. Mateta, Who has proved to be an improver, is worth hanging on to, the promise was always there, and now some of those rough edges are being worked on at £8million he has to be good business

Don't think edouard, benteke and mateta are a bad choice of strikers for us but would rather edouard played through the middle with zaha and olise either side.

Seems more willing to come for the ball and try to find space that Ben who wants it to him. He's improved a lot since pat took the helm. Just maybe we have a rough diamond who is slowly being polished. Time will tell.

It makes perfect sense to play Ayew against the top 6 clubs and Olise for the others. As Olise matures and his defensive work improves then eventually the role will become his alone. Mateta is getting better. Wasn’t keen with what I saw initially but he has definitely improved and it appears PV likes him so that’s good enough for me.
