Bookies rarely get it wrong, but if you fancy 18/1 now’s the time. They all have 3 teams at odds on.

With only 1 win in 9 PL games the 'Mood Music' has shifted from a top half finish , even a European place, to the "R" word with many supporters genuinely concerned with our current situation.

I have spoken to supporters who are not convinced that Vieira is the man to take us forward but this is his first season and we are in transition.
One hopes we don't hear a chorus of "You don't know what you're doing" ringing around Selhurst Park.

If Roy had presided over our recent run of form, the knives would be well and truly out by now.

I think we need to keep our nerve with PV. We aren't too far away from being a good side.

However, the next two games are big ones. If we lose both then the pressure is really going to be on. Win both and we can all relax a little.

I don't envisage us winning both games, however should we take 4 pts from these games I suspect the fears of many supporters will be allayed.

Neither do I.

Watford are not good and I suspect we have enough for at least a point. But Burnley got a great result over the weekend which would fill my heart with love for them given who they stuffed... if we weren't playing them soon. Also, do we have a good record against them? Totally unpredictable side who get really annoying results against us.

The relegation odds change as the results happen, so they can ‘get it wrong’ as you put it. They do not know and cannot predict what is going to happen this week but are guaranteed to win financially on all the teams’ odds today and Sunday.

There’s a percentage figure called the override in horse racing and the higher over 100% a race is, the more profitable it is for the bookie. This will be similar to how the relegation odds work. Canterbury Palace does this for work. They don’t care whether Palace get relegated at 18/1 or the current three at odds on. ‘Getting it right’ isn’t isn’t it at all, unless you mean getting the odds/price right at the time, in which case lose both this week and those 18/1 odds will come crashing down.

In our last 5 Home games against Burnley going back to 2017 we have won 2 and lost 3.
In our last 4 games against Burnley we have not won, drawn 1 and lost 3.

Watford are poor and we should be ok, but Burnley will be putting crosses in throughout the game and if we defend like we did for Chelsea's winner then there's only one result.

Unthinkable that we will lose these games against Watford and Burnley and realistically thnk a haul of 4 points are possible.
However, should we lose both games,we will be sliding towards the relegation zone.

Not so much us sliding towards the R zone as the league table sorting itself out. I never thought the three bottom sides were that much worse than the points difference showed. Brentford are no great shakes, Leeds are conceding goals for fun. It’s getting tighter for sure.

I understand you are a seasoned supporter from the 60s like myself. We knew that a top half finish or a European spot was never going to happen, some get carried away with a few results.
Supporters need to hold their nerve, look at other teams similar to us Brighton and Southampton, both their managers have had appalling results in trying to change the style of the way their teams play. Both were given time and the clubs are now reaping the benefit.
Football is a game of fine margins, it hasn’t gone our way recently, but we aren’t a bad team and are capable of getting the results required.

I garland your comments with concurrence and praise.

I am well known for being an Elijah of Doom on HOL but even I am cautiously optimistic about our prospects.Must be the medication !
