I was watching abit of the Leeds v Villa game on Amazon last night and he came on 2nd half and showed some nice touches.

He was completelty frozen out by Dean Smith after signing him, but is now back in the matchday squad under Gerrard. Dont know whether Gerrard sees him as important now or just trying to put him in the shop window.

They might sell him to raise the money for Coutinho.

Last season he played 9 PL games under Dean Smith, starting in 3 of them.
This season he never played a single game under Smith who left the club in November 21.

He's a very good player but for whatever reason, it hasn't worked out for him at Villa. So much of a player's career is the result of intangibles, and they haven't been in his favour at Villa for reasons none of us knows. Remember, there were plenty here who weren't particularly keen on Connor based on his season at West Brom last year. And look how that's turned out for us.

For me, the key is that if you sign a player, the manager has to a). want him, and b). have a clear plan for how he's going to use him. I think a lot of clubs just accumulate players, not worrying about the fit until they're signed. This may be what's happened to Sanson at Villa. They knew they were signing a talent so they bought him, but once he arrived they didn't really have a role in mind. It may well be that if Sanson is moved on to a club whose plans he is central to (Palace or otherwise) he fourishes.

At the right price, I'd have him in a heartbeat. Given a manager who has confidence in him and the right role, he'd be a very astute bit of business and probably at a reasonable fee, too.

Agreed Syd and even though Gerrard has given him some recent game time, it's difficult to see where he fits in more permanently in that Villa side. Who is he going to replace?

As you say, at the right price, he's worth going for.

If he's half as good as his dad Kenny was for us, it'd be a great bit of business :-)
