Gallagher has been a top performer since he arrived on loan and that is position Eze would take and that will not happen this season. Gallagher was brought in to cover the loss of Eze and he has taken his chance. Viera has changed the way he has played and made him more offensive.

I think next season we will play differently (assuming we can't keep Gallagher) with Eze in Gallagher position. This may involve purchasing a replacement for Jimmy Mac as DM who can also attack

Different styles of play.Gallagher is a busy, energetic, tenacious player, a real bundle of energy who doesn't shirk a challenge.
Eze has that languid style, can ghost past players and has real quality on the ball but off the ball Gallagher has different qualities.
In short, Eze is not a like-for-like replacement for Gallagher.
Lewis O'Brien of Huddersfield is more in the Gallagher mould.

Eze is the Architect, Gallagher is the labourer

We have less points at this stage than we had last year, and we have spent a lot of money, we only have three creative players, Wilf, Olise and Eze, at least two of them have to play. i dont know if PV is good or not, it is too early to say, this time next year and we will know.

Right OK, re-read my previous post and perhaps a bit harsh. We have less points perhaps, but I'd argue we have more hope than previously, or should at least feel so.

With regards to 'creative' players, yes they are integral but I am suggesting perhaps the sacrifice for a more industrious player may be necessary from time to time. Against nowheresville in the cup, sure, but against Chelsea, who in any season I'd suggest we'd be second favourites, I don't think it is a necessity or even wise.

Especially in midfield, I'd rather have more solid players in there vs Chelsea. We may well be highly unlikely to outclass them, but stand more of a chance in outworking them. Will be of no use having the likes of Eze in the midfield if we cannot even get them on the ball, putting all our eggs into a 'long shot' creative 'moment of magic' basket, whilst sacrificing shape, workrate, defensive necessities and'competitiveness' in the team.

Beyond us qualifying for the CL and winning the cup, there really isn't much more PV can do in my book, a personal opinion, and would rather back him based on solid evidence so far than attempt to shoot him down or pick holes in his management when not entirely necessary or even warranted.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

He is not uncriticisable, he has done 6,5 out of ten in my book, but i think he will improve the more games he manages, Olise or Eze needs to play against Chelsea, it cant all be left to Wilf or a set piece, don't forget Brentford put 4 past Chelsea with a attacking line up, its getting the balance right, and making changes quickly when things are going wrong, i am sure we have a decent chance against Chelsea

I'm sure we do, or at least believe it.

I would start Olise if possible, but Eze I would bring on if 20 mins or so to play and if we're one down.

I'm not suggesting we play every CB we have, I would just like us to at least 'stay in the game' beyond half time as although us banging in two or three in the first half not impossible, I would err on the side of caution.

I'd love to see Eze at his best and he's not atm. Yes he needs game time, but I'd suggest a cup semi-final, against Chelsea, is too risque right now as may be to defensive/midfield holistic detriment.

Agree a change when necessary does seem to be lacking occasionally, but again would suggest that no matter what my mind or head tells me, I am just a fan at the end of the day and would think it at the time but upon reflection would admit ignorance in the suggestion that the likes of PV don't understand football or cannot see what I believe to be blindingly obvious.

Anyhow, COYP and again I do sincerely apologise if initial post was a far too hasty 'attack', I am blaming 'Hanger' for now.

It was a very light-hearted poke at your constant insistence on Eze being the best player on the planet, as yet not recognised by the rest of the footballing world, and assertion that PV being fallible or perhaps just not making a decision you think would be best, is indicative of his failure as a manager.

It was a joke, a Christmas joke. But if you want complete sincerity, your constant moaning on here and bizarre assumption that you know better, let alone the boring and ridiculously narrow threads you constantly start, almost all of which can be boiled down to 'play Eze' do resemble the mindset of myself as a grouchy teenager thinking the world is upside down, least of all the football league, and if people had only listened to me we'd all be OK.

And for the record, I am well aware of PV's Nice record, I do think Eze is a great little player for us however trust that his absence from the team is relative (fitness, sharpness, tactical etc.) and whilst I do have very strong footballing opinions, I do enjoy the counter balance of others opinions too, or at least I factor them in to my own thinking and I actually have a Season Ticket, as I have done forever, and strangely do actually go to our matches.

We're comfortably mid-table with a promising squad as it stands, in the FA Cup semi-final and if I know anything, footballing opinions will always be subjective and theoretical as virtually impossible to prove otherwise.

So chill, Winston.

Very well said that man.
