I am really astonished at the lack of intelligence coming from some of the posters on this site. To be mis-quoted, and then have others quote the mis-quote is unique. I have never come across such stupidity in my life. No wonder Palace fans got the tag 'Nigels'! Some can't even reply with a yes or no answer, and resort to visual aids. Pathetic.

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

I work in accountancy and when you read the accounting press reaction that’s quite telling in these things. You know who the cowboys are and you know who the sensible and pragmatic experts are too. With heavy avoidance (think Jimmy Carr, Rangers etc) the more sensible and reserved commentators were universal in condemnation, with this it’s more nuanced. There’s a conception that all accountants are anti-tax, we aren’t. I pay my taxes - like every other citizen and I’ve fired clients for abusing the Covid schemes. Likewise I’ll never be millionaire doing my job and nor do I want to be. We all have a moral obligation to contribute and like the majority here I’m in the group that gets shafted come Budget time every year! Most tax-avoidance was built off interpretation of legislation, built off identifying comments of ambiguity or one item in a piece of legislation and generally - they come crashing down later. What AM did is use something that exists and is used not just by the wealthy. It’s entirely possible it’s a trust setup by her father. My main issue with this is the lack of political savvy, surely to f*** someone said to Rishi (when he became chancellor) “you know what mate, I know it ain’t illegal but this don’t look too clever to the man on the street!” Should a person that naive be making policy! It’s easy to say close the loophole, the status of domicile and resident isn’t just tied to this country and it’s policy that needs a worldwide approach to deal with havens (and it does need dealing with) Edited by robdave2k (19 Apr 2022 7.20am)

She doesn't have to pay income tax. She doesn't earn her income in this country, and is not a registered citizen. Also, she is allowed to live off her husband's income. She is the mother of his children, and has been since they were born. And I doubt she was paid maternity leave. As the law stands, she will be treated as a British taxpayer in due course. As I have said before, if you don't like the tax rules, go and protest for change. Berating her, and trying to blame Sunak stinks of envy. Even if you do earn over £100k pa.
