Believe me, being “bound” by agreements in the past has meant nothing. Very few EU countries complied with the Dublin Convention, when it came to removing people to the country they had arrived from. In fact the UK were probably the best at this. I know you might not like to hear this but it is fact

Being unaware of the "Dublin Regulation" I did a little research. It was obviously not working and was replaced. Unsurprising, really, given the way the problems have multiplied. It remains very complicated. I found this informative:-

None of this though changes my view that the only way we can get any kind of handle on illegal immigration of the kind we are seeing now is via close co-operation with our neighbours. That Brexit has made achieving that more difficult seems obvious, to me at least.

A statement that you would expect from an incurable Remainer.

Whether it has contributed or not, any negative effect will be worth it to rid ourselves of Brussels.

If you can't spot that negative effect between the fuel prices, food shortages, inflation and the rest of the stuff we know the cause of then it can't be very significant now can it.

Is the view of the incurable, some might say incapable, Leaver.

People who think shooting themselves in the foot, because they don't like the shape of their toes, is a good idea, are hardly capable of making informed value judgements on this, are they?

For sure, there's lots of "stuff" going on. That's the problem when trying to measure the Brexit impact. But impact there is. That's why we will show the lowest growth in the G7 next year. The others face the same problems. Minus Brexit. Not difficult to work that out, is it?

It is perhaps the most predictable thing ever that someone like you would try to blame every negative on Brexit.

It makes no difference. We are out, and long may we stay out.

Pray for Linton-on-Ouse

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

But my point has been, prior to Brexit it was difficult to get cooperation from certain EU countries. This is from my first hand experience.

Experience which you know I trust and value.

I don't doubt that was true. My own experience of the French was they always put their own interests first. Nothing is perfect, but anything that helps is better than nothing helping. Brexit hasn't helped us secure EU help.

When I am clearly not doing that, the above comment reaches a new level of ridiculousness.

The pandemic, the energy crisis and Putin's war all have nothing to do with Brexit, but they all impact our economy.

Brexit just makes it worse. Yes, we are out. The lunatics succeeded in taking over the asylum. How long we stay out is as yet unknown. The way things are going, it may well not be as long as you hope.

You have no evidence for that whatsoever, and you clearly have no understanding of why people wanted to leave the EU.

Increased Bureaucracy isn't evidence? Fishermen no longer being able to export due to regulations being imposed being an example. NI difficulties aren't evidence?

I understand why some people, with a lack of vision and feet of clay, wanted to leave. I understand why many others were sold fake promises and duped by the usual attraction of jam tomorrow and green grass in the next field. I understand why 48% of people didn't think like that, or buy the snake oil.

Do you understand that only a small number are actually the kind of "Brexit at any cost", leaver that you are?

Our current circumstances are no different to most Western countries.
The cost so far has not been very significant, and certainly nowhere near the kind of scaremongering nonsense that people like you were peddling, and in your case still are.
