I think we can safely say poverty is a major driver of crime. Solving poverty though? It could be eased for sure, but not solved.
Lack of prospects is an interesting one currently. I remind myself of my old relatives now when I say that there are a lot of jobs out there. I'm presuming that it's like that there at the moment? Loads of firms here struggle to recruit.
My own personal feeling is better pay and conditions, with more flexibility such as work from home, would be helpful. I guess that needs to balance with companies leaving for cheaper climes too. What some companies are getting away with is certainly unacceptable right now. I wouldn't want benefits to rise hugely.
Education - I should be able to say more. From life experience, I can't help but think that 16-18 year olds don't necessarily suit staying in school but at least it's a start. It's quite hard for me to say as I left school at 16 but completed education as an adult: even though I was a high achiever at school, I came from the poorest background. We can't really totally generalise here. It's a complex issue.

A society awash with extra surplus men ? Sure, that would be great for the violent-crime statistics.

Maybe it's already the causal link ? For London 2022 being more violent than London 1922 ?

There’s been stabbings at other stations and on trains. Man murdered on the Waterloo line some way out of London. Machete incident at south Croydon I think. Beckenham is still the ideal place live in this quarter of London, but lots of other places there is a risk and it’s spreading, unsurprisingly, like the behaviour at bus stops after school every day. Copycat culture and a lack of self control or decency.
