Its like snap , shout Foul throw to win the pot . It never builds up more than one or two legal throws

The foot/feet must be behind the line at the point of release. Personally i think get the squad together and find out the longest throwers on both sides of the pitch and mix it up a bit. Anywhere in the opposition half just lob it in the box IMHO is better than what we do now Edited by palace99 (29 Apr 2022 10.53am)

I tend to worry as much when we get a throw-in in the defensive 3rd of the field as I do when it is an opposition throw-in in the same sector. The outcome is usually the same - possession for the opposition.

I've often thought I'd seen a foul throw whilst watching a game on the box, but reckoned I must have been wrong as the ref allowed play to go on. Since waddy started this thread I've taken more notice and I'm certain I saw 3 foul throws in yesterday's two televised games. The most common error is the thrower not taking the ball behind the head, just throwing from the top. My take on this issue is that, unless it is overtly illegal, referee's allow the throw to maintain the flow of the game. It's definitely a law that has been allowed to drift. These days, with the modern trend to press and more closely mark the opposition, it is more difficult for the thrower to find a team mate in space, hence the occasional delay before releasing the ball to a suitable target leading to supporters' frustration.
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |

Just watching the Fulham v Luton game (2-0), & in injury time of 1st half, Fulham have a throw, taken by their RB Tete, the Ass Ref calls it, Foul Throw.

Slightly off topic but in the same vein are corner kicks. Does anyone else notice it or is it just me the amount of corner kicks where the ball isn't even in the corner area?

I believe the rule was changed recently. Previously all of the ball had to be inside the quadrant. Now I think the only requirement is that part of the ball must overhang the line. This means it sometimes looks like the ball is outside the quadrant but as long as part of it is over the line then it's legal.
