Respect to Roy but save our good byes for Watford! Be good to push on for a place in the top half of the table.

IMHO - Roy has an undeserved reputation of being a decent Manager - he is in fact a Manager with very limited in formations and style of play..!!

He proved that with both England and Palace..!!

Noticed yesterday when Watford’s fete of relegation confirmed - Ray Lew did the MOTD interview - Roy nowhere to be seen..!!

If memory serves me correct didn’t he do exactly the same thing after the Iceland debacle - resigned and tried to avoid doing any press interview on the basis he had resigned..!!

He also did the same for us in a game where we got hammered - can’t recall which one specifically.

Roy’s record at Watford is even worse than his predecessor Ranieri and Watford have gone down without a whimper.

There’s an argument that says that we under performed under Roy given the resources he had it his disposal due to his unwavering commitment to “Roy ball”..!,

Look I’m not saying don’t give him a great send off - he obviously deserves that - but I just think there a lot of “rose colored Roy glasses” about just how good he actually was..!!

I for one am so happy we now have Vieira and give Watford a royal hammering on Saturday.

Roy had been ill all week with an eye infection
, hence the sunglasses. Still don’t let that get in the way of your anti- Roy sentiments.
As it happens I too believe Roy had to leave Palace as the football was dire. However I will be forever grateful for him stepping in after FDB. IMO he should never have taken the Watford job, punditry or an ambassadorial role with FA/UEFA should have been his avenue

Roy is far too ethical for such a role.

Pretty sure Roy will get an ovation from our fans. Plus, he'll gift us the three points. We bear him no ill will other than some rubbish football. He kept us up - it's what we needed at the time.

He kept us up by playing very safe but that was what he was employed to do.
The fruits of his labour have enabled Palace to start to play a more progressive style of football and for that we should be grateful.
I was one of his detractors but when you look at the bigger picture he probably didn't deserve my/our displeasure.
Hopefully he will get a huge ovation from us on Saturday followed by a hefty defeat to see Watford consigned to the next level down!

Hope he gets a rousing send off. We owe him for stepping up in 2017 and against all the odds keeping us up in the PL that season. Who knows where we might be now if relegated then !

Of course, it's possible that he'll not feel well enough to be at Selhurst and will leave Ray to take the game. He does seem to be struggling a bit right now.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

I loved Roy, he was a real gentleman. He did a great job for a couple of years, but the last couple of years, although still keeping us out of trouble, it was dreadful and painful to watch, especially last season. I was so pleased when he left, I couldn’t take anymore, which is a shame because he’s a top bloke.

I agree,Roy is a gent but had to go,he'll get a great reception, one that he deserves.

Not sure where you get the "anti Roy sentiments" bit from I said Roy deserves "a good send off" - for all he has done for us..!!

All I'm saying is that Roy is nowhere near as great a Manager as some seem to be suggesting - that in fact he is very limited in his style of play and tactics.

As I said there is a counter argument that we under achieved under Roy given the resources he had available due to his negative tactics and formations.

Then beyond that if that doesn't work he is very stubborn in his views to the point of "its my way or the highway" - we endured almost 2 seasons of that..!!

On the whole "eye infection" thing, so that stopped him talking did it - really..!! Look Roy has a history of ducking press interviews when things don't his way as I alluded to.

Absolutely he deserves a good send off and our thanks - but for me he's nowhere near a Palace Manager legend - which seems to be the suggestion/inference is some quarters.

At the end of the day football is matter of opinions and this is mine - not asking you to agree with me, in the same way that I respect and appreciate your's and others opinion's.

I have no doubt Roy will receive a very warm welcome on Saturday. Only the most begrudging of supporters would act otherwise.

In a way it was a shame he took the Watford job, and he and Ray now look rather forlorn figures in the dug out.

Undoubtedly he had his limitations, and it was definitely time for him to go at the end of last season. However, during his four year tenure at Palace 12 teams were relegated from the Premier League, and we were not one of them.

So, I will be giving him a warm round of highly appreciative applause come the weekend.

Without rehashing old arguments about Roy, the fact is that he fulfilled his objectives that his employer set him.

I don't look upon Roy has a '' legend '' but I do think he deserves a lot of respect for the job he did for Palace.

I think he deserves a warm hand on his entrance ( ackn Julian Clary ) on Saturday !
