Croydon South Tory MP, Chris Philp’s email:

Dear all,

Next Thursday, 5th May, Croydon elects a new council and an Executive Mayor. I urge you to support Jason Perry for Mayor, and your local Conservative candidates for the Council.

Jason is a lifelong local resident who run a business here and raised his family here. He shares my conviction that urgent action is needed in order to make Croydon a Borough to be proud of once again, after years of neglect and mismanagement by the Labour Council.

Jason has a plan to restore the Borough’s finances by ending Labour’s reckless property speculation and winding up their disgraceful Brick by Brick property company. Jason will end Labour’s terrible planning policies that have seen so many family homes destroyed, green spaces built on and residents’ views arrogantly ignored on a weekly basis at Planning Committee. He will protect family homes and green spaces, and make sure significant development only happens in appropriate places (such as Croydon town centre and brownfield sites).

Jason will restore the graffiti cleaning team, fix the appalling bin collections and clamp down on anti-social behaviour. Jason will also make sure council tenants are not left living in squalor as Labour has done.

Critically, Jason will also use the office of Mayor to make and implement a plan to regenerate Croydon town centre. After the collapse of the Westfield scheme on Labour’s watch, Croydon town centre is a mess. Jason will seize the initiative to bring forward a proper regeneration plan for the Whitgift centre and wider area, and I will support him to do that by bringing Government to the table as well.

And one more thing. Jason Perry will reopen Purley Pool which Labour has permanently closed down – disgracefully denying thousands local children, disabled people and other residents the chance to swim locally. His plan will be funded by CIL - a pot of money paid into by developers - so he won’t have to cut money from frontline services as Labour have been doing.

It is also vital that Jason is supported by active Conservative Councillors, so please also support your local Conservative candidates too – they will help Jason to implement the plan above.

Labour Councillors have bankrupted the borough and as a result meals on wheels have just been cancelled for the borough’s older residents and council tax benefit for the poorest has been slashed. Labour cannot even properly collect the bins, and there isn’t space to talk about the Fairfield Halls scandal they presided over.

It is time for real change in Croydon. I believe passionately that we can make this Borough a place to be proud of again – from north to south, and from east to west.

That’s why I am backing Jason Perry and ask you to give Jason and your local Conservative council candidates your vote in the election on Thursday.

Together, let’s take the first step towards making Croydon better. We can do this.
Best wishes,

Chris

Whatever

He has been on Croydon Council since 1994. So what did he do during 28 years to warrant this new role ?

I remember you saying he either voted for the policies or didn’t object or whatever, but I suppose it’s a case of holding your nose or voting for the lesser self serving moron seeing as nobody else would stand a chance. Living in areas outside of London with a strong Lib Dem local council vote has its benefits. It’s a shame we’re a lazy nation politically or we would get together and vote for an independent who represents us responsibly.

Eid Mubarak signs at traffic lights and crossings in the south of the borough. Shouldn’t be surprised with the amount of Burkas around now. Not long until mosques replace the few pubs left.

Gave the CONservative woman the run-around tonight knocking my door, you can unpick them so easily-shows how bad they are when you know more facts than they do, made my day anyway, and persuaded me to vote tomorrow instead of staying home, no more voting until big dog has gone!
