Now, the claim from the Government has always been we way outperformed our peers.

So I loaded the full data set from the WHO. Rate per 100,000 population for the two years of 2020 and 2021.

We are 139 out of 194 countries worldwide. I shall repeat that, we are in the 72nd percentile.

Now, of the large and wealthy European countries our rate was the same as that of Spain and marginally better than Germany, which has an average age of 51.06 compared to 46.96 in the UK. Germany's normal mortality rate is 11.17 deaths, the UK's 9.33.

We also had fewer deaths than Italy, which as you will remember went into a healthcare meltdown.

The European countries that had fewer excess deaths per 100,000 population than the UK were, in order:

Finland
Ireland
Denmark
Cyprus
Switzerland
Malta
Sweden
France
Austria
Belgium
Netherlands
Greece
Portugal

It absolutely boils my p*ss when BoJo raves about what a great job we did with the virus and vaccinations, something he seems to be hanging his hat on for his political survival. We didn't, we did pretty meh.

I strongly recommend you either stop reading the Daily Mail or try to complement that with something informative. You could also try digging into the Mail's data sources as I did.

Bit of a shake up then. but it much would depend on where geoegrapihcally they votes fall ina GE. Level pegging between CON and LAB in odds to win next election. I think that tells us more people how disappointed many are with the current government, rather than they're at all impressed with Labour though. The next few years are bound to be dire economically, so it's a better time to be the opposition than lumbered with it really. Whether that factors into when the next GE takes place reamins to be seen.
