I wonder what will now happen given the Harris/Blitzer consortium bid has not succeeded? Maybe nothing at all - perhaps things just move along as before and no public comment will ever be made. However, it must surly have caused some damage to relationships with Parish and Textor - assuming they were somewhat blindsided by what happened.

4bn for Chelsea it is hard to see how they will get a return on that investment. I suspect Chelsea fans are going to see ticket price rises and fewer big money signings.

As others have pointed out they are buying a club at the top of the market perhaps this time next year the story will be fans cancelling their Sky subscription in droves and the TV companies telling the PL the next deal will have to be less.

Staggered by that sale price. I had always thought that the Roman Abramovich billion and a half 'loan' had been money he could afford to pour down the drain because of the vast incomes he had courtesy of the Russian people gifting him some choice assets.

But the shares he had were sold for £2.5 billion so he would have made a billion profit on those let alone the £2 billion charitable donation.

I am astounded that Chelsea can be valued at that level. In my youth Chelsea were a little bit bigger than Palace as a club but were pretty unremarkable in the wider scheme of things.

Perhaps this will show our billionaire owners that if they invest big it's not impossible to get a massive return on their investment. Our fans magnificent showing at Wembley demonstrate there is a fan base and passion there to fill a much bigger stadium.

So stop arsing about and get that bloody new main stand built

yes, essential RA bought Chelsea for £140m and then spent £100m a year to get it to the top and keep it there (hence the £1.5b loan)- it is massively loss making and with a limited ground capacity there are limited ways to increase revenues.

The new owners are clearly prepared to continue losing £100m a year as they've committed nearly £2b on top of the £2.5b purchase price.

What I don’t understand under FFP is how a team can be allowed to constantly run at a loss. How on earth can that generate a level playing field?

It's hard to see how Chelsea achieve a vast structural revenue uplift. I guess they are a trophy.

If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities.

FFP only applies to smaller clubs. Surely you knew that

A lot of the money pumped into CFC to develop infrastructure, buy managers / players to elevate them to one of the top 6 with credible European championship type credentials & significant debts written off (year on year) by the owner in the form of non repayable loans was going on before FFP came on the scene -

FFP came on the scene because of clubs like CFC just as much as to prevent other clubs following similar models or spending money they didn't have trying to emulate them -

Does FFP only apply to clubs outside the top 6 then, as it doesnt seem to made any difference to Chelsea.
I expect Newcastle will the next to spend ridiculous amounts of their blood money and FFP wont do a thing about it.

Maybe they'll put the car park back behind the goal? That could raise a few bob.
