At times of stress like this, we need to double down on our resolve to tackle climate change, and not weaken it.

Giving help to those most affected is necessary, but not by a general withdrawal of green levies.

I don't make that assumption at all. I was merely commenting on the wisdom of suspending the green elements of energy charges.

I fully accept there are other ways to assist those most impacted, although rises in taxation for certain groups (which by the way would probably include me) needs to be considered, along with a windfall tax on those who are scooping up the benefits.
