Whatever way you look at it we are roughly in the same position as we were last season points and position wise and no nearer being in the top half of the table as some were suggesting a week or so ago. The reality is that we have had a bang average CP season, albeit that the football has been good to watch (sometimes), however the problems of last season (lack of goals) is still with us and we lack the ability to be able to defend set pieces and crosses in to the box. Sure we have had changes on a massive scale but the squad is still lacking and once CG (our best player this year!) goes back to Chelsea then the team is going to be much weaker unless we can find a suitable replacement, plus a half decent striker and at least two or three others. Next season is going to be much harder as the opposition coaches will be in a much better position to counter PV's set ups for the team as they have had a season to study him and his methods.

You obviously don’t check.

We have scored 18 more goals than last season with one game to go and conceded 5 less.
Most have enjoyed a more entertaining style of play, you seem to miss the old Royball style.

How do you know?

Goodison Park was a cauldron. I have not heard such a loud vociferous crowd in a long time. Must have been giving out steroids at the turnstiles.

Just supposing our players said that they felt threatened after the first pitch invasion and walked off the pitch. What would have been the outcome.
I believe that our players would have been affected by the pitch invasion and could possibly have equalised.
If Everton stay up only because of that result then could Burnley or Leeds have a case for complaint.
Yes they got the fans back off the pitch, but not after they intimidated Palace players .
Will those fans be banned and fined as they broke the law or will Frank excuse them.

Right, I've been in a right mood football-wise today so I'll give it a go.

Yes, we actually have. We also have not once flirted with relegation although tbf that could be down to other teams. There's still a lot of deadwood PV could do nothing about this season but the football is far better. We are missing a bit of b****cks at times like exhibited yesterday but that may yet improve. Semi-final of the FA cup, despite position I see us as bottom of the mid-table spectrum atm as opposed to top of the relegation candidates section which is crucial for me.

If I am absolutely honest, I feared the worst this season but am pleasantly surprised. I retain the right to fume over Everton for a while but hey, it's football. COYP

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

We don't need players like that.

None of the top players and indeed better teams are frightened or put off by hostile crowds.

During the first pitch invasion Eze was backing away from two approaching idiots, one waving a flare towards his face. Maybe Roy Keane in his heyday might have given some back, but neither Eze nor any player should have to put up with that behaviour. And no one was arrested or even thrown out that i could see.

Everton have undoubtedly stayed up not only by their football but by their home record of intimidating behaviour often stoked up by Lampard himself.

Goodison has been on the edge with crowd intimidation always likely to spill over and it has been deliberate.

There should be an inquiry into this pitch invasion and the others preceding it during the run-in.

I agree but you know the only outcome from this is likely going to be PV being charged with something, mainly for his two sins of being a)black and b)French. This is like the Ujiri case in LA after the Raptors won.
The FA will probably do nothing to penalise Everton and the situation will only get worse until someone really gets hurt.
That idiot Lampard said pitch invasions are ok as long as fans are well behaved. Yes, you always get a well behaved mob, fueled up on alcohol and adrenaline.
If the FA take this seriously they will penalise Everton for their non-response, like having to play 10 or so coming home games in an empty stadium. No gate receipts for a while might actually make them sit up and take notice.
The 7,500 clubs have been fined before is more like a licence fee to behave badly which costs the club nothing really.

I actually saw a Twitter post from a muppet stating that they had cause to complain 'cos Palace threw the game in the 2nd half to let Everton win........

We always look more physical and more competitive in the air when Ward and Kouyate are involved.
Everton exploited our lack of physicality in the second half and those two players could have helped.
However, Clyne has done nothing to warrant being left out for Ward, and in fairness we dominated the first half through our football so the selection worked in the first half.
Perhaps we just have to accept the way we are attempting to play there will be occasions where simple direct and robust play will win the day for our opponents.

You're not the only one.

IMO the only thing fishy is the difference in the reffing between the 2 halves. 2nd half we got nothing.
Someone has suggested ref got it wrong with Ayew challenge, what DCL challenge on Clyne, no difference whatsoever.
