I for one will sell up they start attacking the rental market again and then the properties will probably be sold into the owner occupied market. Net result, hey presto, massive shortage of rental properties available and rents will continue to rocket up. Are you sure this idea has been fully thought through?

My point was TIC in relation to you are always going to have people who need money or extra money to survive. Put that alongside the fact we could be in the same position next year and where do we or hmg get the money from.
You can’t tax the energy companies again. They will be wiser and won’t have it to give. Tbh I don’t see myself actually needing £400 to make it through the year but by the same token I don’t have a new car or 65” tv and iPhones and gadgets like some ‘poor’ people so I’m taking it and won’t donate it btw.
Back on point this is worldwide so hmg giving dough away because probably 15% of the population need it is a gimmick. If COVID didn’t happen and our great population was a bit more honest then our benefits system would pay out less money, people and business would pay the correct tax and we wouldn’t be in this position. So who pays next time anyway?

This logic basically says that the government shouldn't pay for anything, ever, because there will always be a next time - it's so silly.

No it doesn’t at all. What it says is actually help who needs help but until our honesty level ups a bit how do you do it. Make everyone a millionaire! I’ve been there and had no help at all and that was 30 odd years ago. I know what it’s like to have no pot!

Ok EDN here’s a scenario. I’ve got RA medically proven and am on medication for it. I know I could limp a bit and keep going to the quacks and within 2 years be on benefits with a 40 k car. That easy. I won’t though as my moral compass forbids it. Plenty do and I’m related to one of them the scheming caniving no good ****
That easy for anyone but until these people are found we are all fecked and skint. CP will no doubt give us the 47 B but that’s a pittance to what’s stolen every year with tax and benefits. I take no pleasure in seeing people struggle and stress and will, have and do help when asked and am in a position to.
If everyone did this country would be a much better place.
Amen and helle f*****g yulla

If Labour ever get back in I wonder if they will change it back?

So £47 THOUSAND MILLION is a PITTANCE- let the thieves give it back then-after a full judicial inquiry- if its such a low insignificant amount it shouldn"t be to hard!

Not sure, but that's all the more reason not to change it in the first place.. and passing to buck to those who didn't make this decision and hadn't previously. It's an unnerving move, because it reitterates that he doesn't give a sh!t about the public, their opinion or accountability when he's caught out.

And again I ask you. Do you think the whole amount was nicked or did some get used to save lives. It’s really a simple yes or no but you haven’t answered it. Ever!
I never once said none was nicked.
